There are a few things when it comes to motorcycles not to skimp on in my opinion...
Tires, brakes, and head/body gear.
I would recommend not going used with any of those items.
It can work out for a short term fix, but don't rely on them like you would a new item.

I would give you my 4-2 from my '79...if you pay shipping.
I'm betting the shipping is nutz for a exhaust.
I sent a cb750 cam, springs, and keepers to OZ, and it cost nearly 38.00 US dollars.

Jeez Soos that's awful generous of ya, the kind of thing I see happen on here quite a bit.
What part of the US are you in?

Glad to hand them to you.

I'm still going through my spare parts, and those were on the taking up too much space list.

Just an aside FYI: I was a police officer in NE Ohio years ago. The department got a 450 police model  :o to use in escort duty. It was white, had lights & siren (a huge thing that was cable driven off the rear wheel.)  Several months later they added a sidecar  ::) and at that point I wouldn't ride it. Went back to using the old Harley 3-wheel which wasn't much better but at least didn't look so strange. Bet that old 450/sidecar rig would be worth something now.

No pics, sorry (it was in 1968). However, I found a pic of one, the caption said there were only 25 imported into the US.

My sources indicate the exact number imported was 52 - most went to the Pennsylvania Hiway patrol, others to California hiway Patrol.

They are indeed considered very rare and highly sought after. Though I've worked on literally thousands of 450's since 1965, I've never actually seen one in person.

Here are a couple more pics of a nice example.

Yep, there's that big siren. When you pulled the lever to activate it, the bike would nearly quit  ;D

They had the same here in NZ, retired cops I work with tell me if you put on the siren you didn't have enough speed to chase the offender!
That ole white police bike looks like the Honda 305 and 205 Dreams we had here in abundance in the 60's.
The weight of the extra "stuff" siren/lights/crash bars etc adds pounds to the bike, this is all forgotten when you are at speed in a straight line though.
Manouvering in a shed is like doing a 6 point turn with flat tires ha ha.

Dear diary: had a few quiet days as I'm on leave for a few weeks.
Bike starts easily and idles once warm at 1000rpm, rattle noise gets less as bike warms.
Retensioned the timing chain, didn't seem to make much difference, guess at some stage these things run out of adjustment and you have to replace tensioner or chain.
Slight miss at idle too, more a hesitation and could be the thing some guys on here mentioned about "carb sync" might find out from Honda mechanic about getting that done as it seems a bit beyond me with special tools required..........

Theres plenty of info on sync`ing your carbs on the boards if you do a search hush.
Theres tools out there, i have a morgan carb tune, seems pretty good, there are a few comercially available ones out there and theres a how to somewhere here on making your own.
I havent gone too deeply into the dark arts of carb work yet but the guys here seem to be pretty unanimous that it is well worth learning
Cheers

Yo Troppo, like Clint Eastwood once said "A man's gotta know his limitations"! and I certianly know mine ha ha.
I don't mind doing the donkey work and rebuilding the mechanical side and love/hate relationship with electrics but the many variances of carb/mix/air/vacuum/jet just give me a freaking headache.

I hear what your saying there mate....
Electrical i can handle as long as its basic, but electronics and carbs share the same shelf in the "dark arts" cupboard, dont want to go there lol

Dear diary: today I tried to unravel the mysteries of the wiring loom on the bike.
I very soon found out taht the PO had had a small barbque at the rear of the bike and had reducted extra wires to compensate.
This does not help me as I am trying to liven up the right hand controls for siren/flashing lights/mic etc.
Too cold in shed so have retreated to lounge and warm fire while I sort the diagrams I have drawn.
Oh yeah new discovery for me, I never realised that Honda's had a solid bar fitted into the handle bar?
Is this possibly so you can rachet down the disc brake lever without squashing the bar itself?

Hard to tell why they put it on, but it sure took me some time to drill and tap a hole for bar ends..  :)
back to the syncing - it's really much easier than you think, and you can do a home-made synchronizer from polyethylene tubes. Connectors from copper brake pipe threaded at the end a bit.
I strongly advise you to try it! The most difficult thing is to lock the adjusting screws - I found this impossible without changing the setting, so... I just pour some paint on it (actually I stick a piece of tube into the spray can nozzle, and "spray" it on the spot..) and it locks it good enough for me.

Good luck!
Welcome to my mountains!

Dear diary: not a lot of work on bike today well progress wise, in fact I tended to rip her down a fair bit chasing wiring leads and found the wiring is a bit messy.
In total frustraition at not being able to find/borrow/steal/download a PZ wiring diagram I striped the right hand control off "again" after swearing never to touch it again after getting it back on and working the other day.
But it has been worthwhile, not only did I get to clean out the control's workings I also now have a clear idea of what does what and where the burned out wires have been replaced.
Oh for anyone else who has a pz650, the black and yellow wire is for the siren in association with the lose green wire connector and the controls marked O.P.M.S. stand for Off, Police lights, Mike (loud hailer), Siren.
Will wire in connectors tomorrow so that when I refit the light pole and siren they just need to be plugged in.
Will also strip the God awful red masking tape the PO used to rebind the whole loom (what was he thinking?) and replace it with a hundred metres of black. ;)
Picture is of that mystery object I forgot to fit to clutch, just to remind myself not to be such a knob!

Dear diary: today I had a complete brain fade and ripped the complete wiring loom out of the bike, I'm not sure how often people do this but for me it is definately a first.
The PO had bound it in a bright garish red tape so I am returning it to the correct black.
If I can get it all back in and remember where everything goes I'll be surprised but hey its Winter, the weather is crap and this had to be done.

I just used USPS.   First time the box was to big so had to bring it home and repack everything into one smaller.  Also they asked for a declaired value and as I was being paid $200 for everything said 200.
When Chris (think that was his name) went to pick it up they made him pay extra for it because of the declared value.

I think, but am not certain that the solid bar may have had something to do with weighting the bars so as to cut down on vibration- just a theory.

Nah I doubt that here in NZ we tax on used parts or on arrival, I can find out but think that unless it was a bulk amount of product like for a business there would be no tax.
Finding a freight company that does sea freighting at your end is going to be more of an ask Soos, but sure appreciate your efforts.
Did I mention you have secured yourself free accomodation in Napier NZ any time you want to holiday here  ;D
