I've got a 76 F as well, and the first mod I want to make is clubman handlebars (it came with drag bars - not comfy).  I've heard horror stories - how much of a pain was it to get the wiring right with the clubmans?  Did you go through the bars, or just bypass them (it looks pretty clean, either way)?

How about running the wiring into the bars and out a hole at the hard turn on each side?  It would still hide most of the wiring.

I made a mistake earlier on the rearsets.  They are from a 03 CBR 954not a 900.  When I first picked these I had no idea if they would work.  I liked the way they looked and I couldn't find any rearsets I liked that bolted on.  I purchased the set on ebay for under 100 bucks.  I had them polished and mounted far back. I am using the brake cylinder that came with the rearsets.  I'm making an extension for the shifter so it can be adjusted.

How did you mount them? Did you weld them on? I have bought a set to and am having difficulty mounting them on my cb750.

I made some brackets with welded threaded sleeves.  Then welded the plates to the bike.  I cut off the original brackets that where there.  I believe they were for the old rear pegs.

I thought about that - it seems like a pretty good idea.  Has anyone else done this?  I don't want to weaken the bars (not that I know how it would do that...).
One day, I will put up a signature.

I just got the tires mounted on the rims.  They aren't ready to mount but I couldn't wait.  I had to see them on.  Here are some pics of the bike mocked up.  Still needs alot of work.

I added some steal braided lined and some chrome clamps.  I picked up 3 feet of steel braided line at pep boys.  I got the clamps on ebay.  1/2 OD.  Dressed up real nice.

So does the cable slide over the stock rubber hoses or does it have rubber integrated into it?

When you say cable I'm gusessing your talking about the actual steal braiding right.  It's sold as one piece.  Steal braided on the outside and rubber inside.

I have the same seat from Carpy and haven't mounted it yet.  It looks like I'm going to have to cut the rear tail section from the frame to make it fit.  Did you have to mod the frame at all?  Mine's a '77 K, so it might be different than yours.

I haven't had to cut the frame yet.  The way it looks I should be able to get away without cutting.  Plus I want to use the two holes on the back of the frame for my small turn signals.  Not sure how the seat will mount.  Have to mount the tank first.  Should have them both done by next weekend.

Yeah-how much, what diameter/size, and what are you using to cut it?

The line cost 29 bucks for 3 feet.  Comes in a package in the aftermarket dress up parts area.  It's 1/2 OD.  I used a diamond cutting blade on a small chop saw.  If you cut it real slow it will make a clean cut without fraying the braiding.

Well it's been awhile but I finally got her almost finished.  Put some gas in her just to see if she would fire up.  Started on the first try.  Tank and seat are getting painted.  Just waiting on the chain.

You may have already discussed this (I'm too lazy to look).

What are you planning on doing for the seat upholstery?  I'm thinking I'll use a piece of plywood with recessed bolts through the seat and upholster the plywood.  Thoughts?

I've been trying to figure this out since I bought the seat.  I had my friend make nme a seat pan out of then metal.  We pounded on it and had it match the shape of the pan.  I have bolts going through it attaching to the seat.  Upolsterer is going to do it up in black leather.  Im guessing wood would work also.  thats what i was originally going with.

Nice job, 53kemper,

The seat works really well with that tank -- great lines.  The engine looks beautiful.

Thanks.  The tank is off a CB 500T tank.  Bought off a guy in the paper for 50 buck.  Hope to send the bake out to get painted next week.  Waiting on a Ducati 750ss fairing to come in.  That should make the bike pop.

Ok well the bike is done but still needs tank painted.  Have a Ducatti SS fairing but have yet to make a bracket to have it put on.  I decided to move on to my next project so i'm putting this up for sale if anyone is interested.  I want to build a rat rod.
