ride frequency

The area I live in has finally had a change in the weather for the better.
I have grown accustom to having my pick of the motorcycle parking at work, well since the sun is peeping out for the next week I am now fighting for a parking spot. I have a feeling it's going to get worse in the spring.
I farted and made my son cry.

I have to wait at least another two months to even think about riding a bike.
Long winter here...

I am usually out riding a few times a week.

I have definitely enjoyed living in CA and AZ the last few years.  I think I would go nuts waiting for the winter to end to be able to ride... that would really suck.

My 750 is my daily rider, rain or shine.  I tried to brave snow once and dropped it at about 10 mph (even w/ feet down as skis)...will never do that again.  The ride home from work tonight was dry but chilly at 29 degrees F.

I ride 2-3 times a week if possible, as long as it is dry!! Wouldn't even think about riding in the snow or icey conditions!!

Hey Adam, I'm going to be one of those old farts that moves down there near you when I retire!  ;)

I used to ride in all weather but now that I don't have to, I don't ride in the rain if I can help it so my ride time is limited to half the year.

In North Dakota, you dont ride in the winter! Not with 2 wheels anyways!
Otherwise, if there is no snow, I ride anytime I can. So if I go solo and do not need to pick up groceries, it is bike time. So I would say, when riding is possible, I ride almost everyday of the week.

i hate my car. i really hate most cars...unless it's raining i'm on the bike - it's been tough having my bike torn down all winter - there are definitely days i could have ridden in the last month and would have.

wassamatta eldar, don't they make chains for two-wheelers??  :)

Chains dont work on 2 wheels on ice! We have ice from the the first snow, which is usually in november, to the middle of march!
Now if I could get my hands on a trike, well that would be different!

There's a local guy that does the trike outfit on late model gold wings.  He might do a K8 if asked nice ;D

Naw, I would not do that to my K8. I would use a k6 or earlier since there are so many of them compared to the K7-8. But then I dont know if the front brake would stop me!

Getting time to ride is a major premium.  Even if I can manage 10-20 miles once or twice a week I can get the bike warmed up and the oil circulated.  I'll start riding daily again this summer.

Riding here in the SF Bay area is a blast.  there are so many bikes here.

I rode up to The Wall today to catch the sunset and check out bikes.

There was a guy with a MVBrutale... cool bike... it sounds really wicked.  He has been racing bikes all his life and has lots of stories about the old hondas.  I think its cool that my bike draws lots of interest just like the ducatis and all.   He also has this talent of being able to spot anything that might be wrong with a bike...  He will glance over at my bike and immediately comment on the missing 10mm bolt on the chain cover.  Huh?  how did he catch that?

Today at the Wall there was an Old BMW, 5 Motards (they are really popular here), the BRutale, a 999s Duc, a dl1000, an f4 and a ktm 950 duke, and an R1..   I don;t see many harleys there, though.  MEt a cb350 there last week...  He told me about easter morning outlaw run that goes up MT Tamalpais in MArin county at around 3am the saturday before easter.  700 bikes catching the sunrise, then disbursing...  he says there are lots of vintage bikes.  If I can wake up that early I think I will go along.

Anyway, this seems to be bike heaven out here... they say it is the most bike friendly place to live.
Whoever "they" are, anyway.

Buffalo winters suck.  I have been able to squeeze a couple of rides out of December & January, but never when wet or snow.  Lots of ice here too, being right next to Lake Erie.  Can't wait for spring.

No kangaroos around, but ice and snow are about the only things that park the bike.  Otherwise I would ride year round.  I ususaly park the bike in late November and start riding the first of March.  I have to stay a step ahead of the Harley sissies that work with me.

I try and get in a good ride (around a hour for me, and my bad back) atleast once a week. Depends on if their are any car related functions going on as well.

I wont ride long distances in the nasty unless I know it will be mostly straight roads. I.E. getting stuck in a rainstorm for a 100 miles on a long ride. Then I will do it. But my bike is my main transportation until the snow comes. If the roads are clear I will use it for short runs as -10 at even 45mph is a bit much for anyone to take.

Don't own a car, so the bike is it during the summer. She gets me to and from work, which can be up to 1000km away. Riding here is doable on a regular basis from the end of March until the end of October. Gets a bit chilly/icy after that, so the bike has to be put away.

In the winter I either use the missis' four wheeler or rent one.

I used my newly restored 750 all last winter. I don't really leave the driveway when it's raining on purpose, but I got caught in it all the time...........
I did find myself at the gas station one afternoon when it stated to snow. 1 of 2 days it snowed all year ;D

When I did this seasons main clean / polish a couple of weeks ago on a sunny day, it came back quite well. What ever, I built it to ride, not sit at home and look perfect ;D

P.S. Got the wife on her new CL and off the Island for a ride down the Coast to another Island for her 1st day trip. ;D

Well up in the north, the riding season is not the longest as those in canada will tell you. Gets pretty cold and snow just does not work very well on 2 wheels when you got ice under that snow!

I ride from aabout the time the snow is gone, mostly anyways, which is about mid march to beginning of april, till the snow flies which can be anywhere from beginning of october to beginning of november. I would love to ride year round but moving just is not in the cards right now. A decent job will do that! So I do the next thing. I start saving for an 836 job and maybe get the headmaster to do my head and valves!
