That will be a sweet saw when you get done with it, I made a small table for my cheap horizontal band saw. I can stand the blade section up and use it like a table type, it's adequate but nothing to brag about.
No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.

Thanks, I've wanted one for a long time. Making the throat plate would be easier if I had a band saw. ;D

Don….. I’ve done the same and it’s far from ideal!

Kelly….. That will be a valuable shop addition. I like it.

This is one of my favourite topics. I wish more people would post pics of their shop. I’m always interested to see how other people set theirs up.

The only new thing in my shop is an old Craftsman 12" band saw I'm resurrecting. It got left out in the rain for a week before I got it. I had to derust the work table, clean it out, figure out what size belt, replace the two guide bearings and make a throat plate. I'm still working on the throat plate.

Kelly, how do you know what size an upright bandsaw is?
Does it have to do with the table and the piece of material that will fit onto it,to work with ?

It says so on the label  8) and the wheels the blade rides on are 12" diameter.

Changing chain and sprockets on the K3 today. So glad I installed the little air conditioner last year. Shop was 70F (about 20 degrees less than outside).

John,is that a heavy duty wooden box  underneath the front of the engine ?

Stu…. No, it’s just a cardboard box cut off to hold a small wooden plate under the side stand and catch the oil that always drooled out of the front sprocket after a ride! I found the lubricator was missing the rubber stopper!

That bike has no centre stand. It’s sitting up on the side stand, and a scissor Jack under the other side foot peg. A bit dodgy, but OK for a short time.

I had to derust the work table, clean it out, figure out what size belt, replace the two guide bearings and make a throat plate. I'm still working on the throat plate.

The one thing that made all the difference for my old table top bandsaw was replacing the tires.
Tires? Yes I'd never heard of bandsaw tires before either.
The wheels of some bandsaw actually have rubber "tires" that the saw blade rides against. And the rubber ages poorly which causes the blade to slip much too easily, much too often.

I found silicone rubber tires for mine on ebay or maybe they were urethane from Amazon, they were translucent blue or green, I forget, but they fixed the blade slip issue once and for all.

I've got the band saw about done. I finished the throat plate and now I have to find a two contact bayonet base light bulb or I'll have to replace the light.

Yesterday we opened up the shed for the Ganaraska 250 moto giro style event. My shop is the small door on the left side. Cleaned out the tractor, truck and junk from the shed side and ran the start out one way and the finish back through. +30 riders and a fantastic weather day!

I have a lot of stuff.  This is just the shop, there are 4 other outbuildings with jeeps, pickups and cars and engines and parts..  My wife and kids are going to hate me if I drop dead before I get around to thinning it out.

Thanks . I was hoping to find pics from years ago, it's a shame that all those pics are lost, didn't have the old ones only recent ones. I always liked this thread and would like to see it continue.

I found only one shop pic from 2012 to replace the lost one
