Two Tired Withdrawals
« on: September 29, 2008, 04:30:48 PM »
It's absolutely none of my business as to why; but I've been on a couple of posts lately where I've come to expect TT's wisdom and expertise regarding all things 500/550; only to be disappointed by his absence.

Hope he's doin' alright.

my bet is he's too damn busy....but I like to think everyone gets out riding as much as possible, say he who has clocked up 5 days 16 hours and 34 minutes on this site so far this year!!!!
Whose great idea was it to have us clocked?
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

Ya! My wife was passing by while I was lurking on the site and she was shocked at how much of my life has been lost to this site.

Ha my partner made the same comment, my reply "so you'd rather I go down to the pub for a few beers"?
Deathly silence and I'm again left to wander the SOHC forums in peace. ;D

I cant speak as fact but some issues had happened in the past and he may just be taking some time off. SOme times a person has to. I usually am never on over the weekends and have taken a week here and there. Give it a month and then worry. ;)

Sometimes I have thought about staying away and lurk to see how much time it takes for the other forum members to notice I'm away.

But then I think I may not like the outcome......  ;D

Yeah, uh... with the fact I have contributed mainly to the funny pictures and bone headed questions backlog I think my absence might be actually welcomed! :D :D

Seriously, it hasn't been all that long and TT might actually have that whole life in the real world thing I keep hearing about, but I hope all is well none the less. At the risk of getting mushy I think everyone, well almost ;D, is of value here- from the newest green horn to the old salts.

I just caught up with TT's post in ff's thread:

[snip]

Sorry, I can't do this job.  Doctor says I have Bursitis in the hip.  I'm lucky to get out of bed these days.  Sitting in a chair is painful.  Walking/standing is something to reminisce about.  I just hope I don't have anymore emergency room visits.

[snip]

Cheers,

Man, after all the help he's been to me, it pains me just to read it. If there's a member that needs some prayer, we should send up some for him.

I love projects, as I think he does too from what i've gathered from his posts...if he's like me he gets going on another project and sidetracked...sometimes for a while. I was absent from the Ducati.ms board for a while because of the CB750, and absent from the EXUP board because of both lol.

Thanks for all your kind words.

This is my first post since going to the Hospital on the 17th.  I was admitted with what turned out to be pneumonia and pulmonary embolism(s).  Most of my right lung didn't work, and maybe 75% of the left one was still functioning. Onlyy reason I could still breathe at all is the pain pills I was taking.  Without them, I couldn't take more than an 1/8 of a breath.  It was a pretty debilitating experience just to struggle to breathe.
Doctor said I wouldn't have lasted more than few more days without effective treatment.  I was released today.  So, I'm seeing home for the first time since the 17th.

Feeling pretty good, now.  The hip/leg issues were actually back issues pinching nerves; herniated disk, and a bit of arthritis.  I still have to get treatment/therapy for this.

The blood clots in the lung meant I was put on Coumadin (blood thinners).  This keeps the blood clots from forming.  However, blood clotting is an important mechanism for injury, such as broken bones.  Doc advises against Motorcycle riding as an injury could mean I bleed to death.  (He wasn't too happy about me even working on machines either.  We'll see if I can refrain.)

I didn't have any internet access at the hospital.  I have no laptop.  Which is a pity, as I could have relieved a lot of boredom the last 5-6 days with a laptop.  So, this is the first opportunity I've had to see these forums since the 17th.

There's lots to catch up on here at the house.  So, I don't no how active I'll be for a few days.

This was my first ever hospital admission and first near death medical experience.  I've had pretty good health most of my life, and it is easy to take that for granted.  Our bodies are actually quite fragile.  Those of you with good reliable health should take the time to appreciate what you have.  Pretty much guaranteed it won't last forever.  Trust me.  Looking back after an event like this will cause high lament for what you once had.

Again, thanks for your concern.

Cheers,
Lloyd

TT

I'm very sorry to hear what you've been through the last two weeks. Everyone has been quite concerned, but I don't have to tell you that.
It sounds like you still have a long road ahead of you. Ride as fast as you can and get well soon.

Nice to have you back.

Ditto on get well soon TT, but don't take the Docs advise for too long. Consider riding as part of your treatment or at least staying sane.

Lloyd, I am truly sorry that you had to go through what you did. I had a person I know of pass away from what you had and so you are not being dramatic. While you are on the Coumadin I would refrain from working on your bike. For the time being you are essentially a hemophiliac. If you do anything I would at the very least wear gloves since a simple nick can bleed for a protracted period. I am truly happy that you are on the mend. Stay well.

Hey thanks TT; you're not by any means obligated to reveal personal stuff but very I'm glad to hear from ya.

If you'll pardon some advice from a complete stranger I'd just like to say to try not to let the catch up stuff get the best of you. Put recovery over everything else when you can. I think you're entitled.

Your advice about respecting ones health is well taken too.

I wish you a speedy recovery and it is nice to have you back!
