How about an actual Yamaha 650 (flat) tracker?

Man, I can see why people get hooked on this sport; just watch this clip from On Any Sunday!

I like the style of these 70's era documentary films too.

Bill, There is at least one thread on 650motorcycles.com that tells the benefit. I have read up on it, but it's been some time ago and, for the life of me, I can't recall what it is. ::) If you get the chance, check back there. I Don't see where I'll get the chance to for a bit, But I will IF I do get the chance. :) I think it has to do with making the engine run smoother and more responsive, But don't quote me! :-\

Bill, Here is a bit of info on the "rephasing" From the 650motorcycles.com site.

A 277° firing order engine does not vibrate like the stock 360° engine, and it will pull smoothly on up the rpm scale. We can do "477" engines only (1974-1983)

Here's a link showing the process of rephasing a crankshaft from 360 degrees to 277.

Thanks Bill for the bit on rephasing... interesting modification to say the least. Very nice Yamaha street tracker too!

Where did you find that?! I read about it in a recent rag but couldn't find pix on the internet. Good find and sweet bike.

About the Duc; I see what ya mean but to that I say it's often the little things that make the difference. I think the Italian is good looking to start with. This one off, for me, puts a tasteful twist on it.

I checked out your suggestion... and wow!
