How About Some Speedway History?
« on: November 05, 2008, 05:24:05 PM »

I thought this was pretty cool. Thoughts?

Feel free to post any of the photos, I was kinda in a hurry or I would have done it myself. ;)

That replica is outstanding!! The builder has Skilz... as the kids say these days. The thing is almost practical!

I had to post this; there's a real treat at the end!

Found this in my stash vintage pix. I love these portraits of the riders and their machines.

At The Timeless Motor Company factory. Can you tell I want one? :D

From The Kneeslider~ April 11, 2007
"Timeless Motor Company will sell you one of these reproductions in either street bike or board track form. Mike says the street bike is $10,995 and the board tracker is $9995, prices which I think are pretty darn good considering what went into the tooling and construction."

Google iRide. It's a bike he built and he's done a bobber style too with a Honda tank!

Wow, quoting myself here! Somebody's full of himself. Sorry for diluting the thread with non Speedway/Board Tracker stuff. I'll endeavor to make up for it.

Hey, Don't sweat it. You've come up with some really great stuff on this one and the other 2 threads that we've been building on. SO, you'll get NO complaint out of me. ;) I was having trouble going to the "iRide" deal anyway. Kept coming up with something about "iRide Trolley"! That bike in the last video, was pretty cool at that!

This may very well have been posted before but I think it belongs here. I do wish someone would make a (good) feature film. Maybe we can petition Ken Burns to do a documentary!

I don't think so. When this first showed up on You Tube some time ago there seemed to be a buzz. I don't know if the people behind it had plans to do a film but I've heard nothing about one. Then again it's not like I have connections.

I was just on Ken Burn's website (yes, I'm obsessive/compulsive :D) and there's no email; likely because of people like me. He'd be the guy to do this justice! Maybe someone should craft a letter, better yet accompanied by a petition, to show an interest. Just a thought. I really think this a significant part of moto history.

As much racing as I've done...

I think I'd crap myself if I ever rode one of those. I mean... I ride it sure. But I'd bring a long a pair of clean pants. And a drool rag. And someone to slap the smile off my face afterward.
