Painted the calipers and disc inners gold, not 100% sure on the outcome. It may be a bit of overkill on the gold, also I am not keen on the shade of gold. I'll wait until it's all together before I do anything, It's no big shakes to change it. I may either go for a more Brembo gold or use silver instead.

I like the gold!! Especially on the wheel. Curious to see how the calipers will look on the bike....and I like the name change

that frame kit is the best part of my bike i think. with me having had to pull the head 3 times now since i originally got the k4 back together, it has made my life much easier. no waiting for the idiot son-in-law to come over to help me lift the motor out of the frame.

aluminum wire is still used in construction a bit here. used to be that all mobile homes has aluminum wire in the walls in fact.

Thanks to LordMoonPie (who supplied the specs and one of the pipes) the oil pipes are finished and fitted, thanks for your help Lord.

Also something rather nice turned up in the post thanks to Mr Swarbrick.

Need to cut these with a hacksaw then weld to get the required angle.......no nerves there then, has anyone else done this so they can give me any advice please?

Need to decide what to paint them with or whether to get them chromed. Or do I use tape on the headers...?

I don't think this will be very legal.....oh well

Wow... I'm completely amazed, this is going to be a beautiful bike. Two questions though. What is the advantage of grinding the lower engine mounts? I know you haven't ridden the bike yet but will there be extra flex in the frame with this mod? This mod would be very nice to have for wrenching but I wonder if it will decrease stability in hard corners.

Dont wrap the pipes! Most wrap pipes look cheap and nasty

Black would be my preference...look very nice!

Totally with you on that one. I know way too many guys on the chopper/bobber side that wrap, and it looks terrible...would probably look even worse on a racer. To me, it looks like the bike sprained it's exhaust pipes, or something.

Mgab, grinding the lower mount refers to removeing the flange which juts out 1/4 ". This leaves the bolt mount in place but allows the engine to lift in and out a bit more easily.
Ref the frame mod, if you search for the 'Gordons frame mod' you should find a lot of detail about it. I believe that it has been used on some race bikes so there should not be any issues with frame flex.

Ok so I may well skip the downpipe wrapping, need to get some satin black heat proof paint.

Just caught up with this one and it's looking great, getting the pipes plated would be a good idea before they get sooty as most places will not touch them once they have been in use.

Skunkypoooos, sorry I didn't get back on the silencing, I must have missed it.
When we ran the CR it was on open pipes where noise was not a problem and a silenced race exhaust when it was.
I see you've got the Swarbrick set up, good luck with the shaping of the meggas.
In respect of the exhaust wrap, if it was for performance reasons, why not consider what Dennis said and have it coated while the pipes are new.
You can get a ceramic coating that performs the same function as the wrap but looks a million miles cooler. There is a company called Camcoat that I use for ceramic coating on my pistons andthey do a real good job, here's a link to their site.

Hi Sam, I will definately look into getting the exhausts coated, however I will need to get the brackets made up, megas cut and welded and brackets welded on first.
The brackets will depend on my design for the rear sets but do you have any tips for cutting and welding the Megas please?

The instructions are pretty poor.

You're lucky, we didn't get any instructions.
The only advise I can give is that both meggas end just in front of the rear axle.

Only parts that are holding me up are a set of exhaust flanges, the pipes that came with the bike didn't need these,but the Swarbricks do.

Think I might be able to help, there are some nice stainless flanges for about €100,-. Ex. shipping.

I'm really looking for second hand ones that I cn clean up and sort out. These things seem to be very highly priced.
