another good way to get centre is to get a peice of wood that you can tap/jam into the centre of the disc where it fits the hub.

then use this so you can create a centre for you disc. Once the centre is found you can use a set of dividers/metal compass scribe to mark your concentric circles, then all you have to do is transfer the correct division/hole space on each concentric ring.

you miss understand, this is not a 4X4 and a sledge!!!...lol

this is enough resistance that it doesnt move, so you can make a perfect centre, to scribe your circles...lol

Any chance that someone could edit the fast pattern for the 400 so that I can print it out and drill my rotor for my CB350f?

I would really appreciate it.  I have been having problems doing this on my computer.

thanks!

Whenever I have made templates for drilling discs I have started with a blank circle of cardboard that's oversize for the disc. I then place the disc to be drilled onto the cardboard and draw around the circumferance. The disc can then be set to one side. To find the perfect centre using a drawing compass, bisect from any point on the drawn line, one at say the 12 o/c, the other at say the 6 o/c position, it dosn't really matter. Then transfer the compass to the other side of the template, near enough opposite of the first position, and bisect the lines that have already been drwn from the other side. Then draw a straight line from where the drawn lines bisect each other. Do the same thing for say the 3o/c and the 9o/c positions, draw the line again, and where they cross is the perfect centre. You can keep on bisecting the disc into quarters, eighth, sixteenths, thirtyseconds, etc. Then, using the perfect centre, draw a line with the compass onto the template that is the inner line for the swept area of the disc. Now divide the swept area, say 50mm wide, into 10mm circles onto the swept area of the disc template. You should now have a series of circles on the template which equates to the swept area of the disc which are perfectly divided by the lines bisecting the template into 1/16ths,1/32s,1/64s etc. You can then draw your own chosen pattern from the lines where they cross.Once done, the centre part can be cut out and taped onto the disc to be drilled. Once one disc is done, if a second of a double disc setup is to be drilled, then just flip the template over and do the same again.

Simples.

When we are making sertain signs at work and I needed to find the center of a circle I used a square, found the diameter of the circle, then cut it in half giving you the radius, then measure that out by butting the square next to it and using another smaller square run it along the base of the first square lining it up horizontally and verticly with the center mark like using an x y graph. you might have to cover the whole rotor with 2inch wide masking tape to mark center with and then go from there. When I made the patterns I tried to draw out the I.D. and O.D. of the rotor so they can be printed out and simply cut out the shape of the rotor after printing it out and lay it on the rotor with some double sided tape. If I can get the time I will redraw them in two halves so they can easily be printed on like an 8inx11in typical printer paper. Good to see this thread is kicking and hope it helps everyone get what they need out of it. Peace

Here are some rotor patterns for F2 rotors that i made... I'm doing my rotors with the top middle one using 3/8" holes... not a very aggressive pattern but i think it still looks good.

Wow, I'm glad to see folks here getting good use out of these. I want to make a pattern using the honda wings and lay it out on all the sizes of rotors when i get time to.

I used your fast spiral pattern for the 550, doubled it up and drilled it to 9/32". It's a little busy, but I'm pretty happy with the results overall. Still need to paint and finish up the second rotor.

Thanks for the (initial) pattern :-)

I really like the look of these, I think I may do the same to my 550. Thanks Goon, for the patterns. Mods should keep this up top for others.

Yoshi, do you have a template for that patter?

Or does anyone have a pattern like it?  3/2 holes alternating?

Thanks,

Matt

Hey Goon...thanks so much for posting the pattern for the 550 at the top of this thread.  Just finished up tonight.  Can't wait to try out the brakes....whenever the warmth comes back, that is....

How do I print out the 550 pattern so that it fits the disc? When I open it, it's too big for the disc. The print preview shows it going off the page on an 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper.

Hi Scott,
I just printed it off here at work on 11x17 paper, no scaling. I got 275mm diameter on the drawing. Does anybody have the diameter of the disc itself?

My info says the 550K rotor is 236mm, but please verify.  Also I have the 350F as being 260mm which seems odd but ??  It's sort of weird because the 350 and 500 used the same calipers.

Can anyone confirm that 550K also used that same caliper?
