VOTE for Bike Of The Month - February 2009
« on: January 17, 2009, 07:30:24 PM »
It is voting time for Bike of the Month for February 2009.  We have two seconded and accepted nomination bikes in the running.  Too bad we did not get Shortrounds acceptance.

This month will be interesting!

I can change it to show when the poll expires.  Actually, I think the rules say so.

If y'all want it changed, I will.  No worries.  :)

I'm sure this has been talked about before, so FWIW, This isn't a fair
match, like comparing apples to oranges. Both of these bikes are very nice, and deserve to be judged in their own separate classes.
Just my humble (or not so humble) opinion. Not tryin to stir the pot or anything..... :)

Spike, this makes sense.  I will hide the poll results for it to show when the poll closes.  I will do that to this one.

I can see where one could view it this way and understand your point.

I did ask at the beginning of the nominations thread if anyone wanted it to be different than wide open but no one said anything.  We almost had a third but there was no acceptance by the owner.

Both are very nice bikes and if you look at it class wise, yes they are both very much in their own class.  Views are views and each of us have one.  I will bet there are far more views (people looking) on this thread than actual votes.  Wished all of those views pulled a vote.

If you get right down to it, they were nominated and accepted to be voted on.  To me, this could have gone either way and that is why I thought this one would be interesting.

In my opinion, I would have both bikes in my stable.  One to run from the cops and the other to leave me alone and let me cruise.

I will post a poll for March's BOTM listing out options and I will review the previous BOTM threads a bit more to see what was done in the past.

Folks, please keep the suggestions and that smacks in the face (to me) coming.  The BOTM is all of ours, not mine.

Let me know if you can still see the votes.  I can even after clearing the cookies.  Yes, it is set to hide the votes until the poll expires.

Logged out, checked and just see text for the poll names and no voting options.  Kewl, no worries.  Wasn't sure.  Thanks Steve.

Just my humble opinion but would it not be better to compare models of the same line.
Chris 750 would look great even on the salt flats and Kits 650 is a prime example of the classic cruiser but to compare them against each other is a bit hard.
I'd feel more comfortable comparing apples with apples. ;D

this has been discussed to death - the separate model competition thing. Here is the problem. this month we only have two bikes to vote on anyway. If we had classes that makes it even togher to have a full group to vote from.

Giga ~

Thanks for taking on this thankless task and running with it!

Just shut up and vote ppl!  ;D  ;D  ;D

It's time to celebrate these steeds we ride on.  Yes they're of many flavors, but it's the spice that makes it all interesting.

Nomination is a celebration in itself.

Thanks Kit and guys for the congrats and to all who voted for my creation.
It's a real honor to have the CR a double winner in the last few years but this may be the bikes last win as part of the Sam Green Racing stable. I'm not sure of how many wins and records it's taken but it's only placed 2nd twice.
The Bike is to be auctioned off in April by Bonhams at the Classic bike show at Stafford.
The bike has still to be seen by the Bonhams specialist but it will probably be estimated between £8000 and £10000 with the reserve set at 8. This is only about half of the actual cost of building and developing it.
Chris was going through all his receipts, data and pics to put a folder together for Bonhams when he came across a pic of the doner bike,......in the background was 2 year old Benly Ben ;D ;D ;D ;D I'm glad he grew out of picking his nose :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Kit, your's IS a great looking bike and it's a shame that there aren't 2 categories this time, as it surely deserves recognition as well (on it's own merits)! 8) ;)

She's forever a work in progress,  anyway, and I need to get nicer pics, somewhere that doesn't bear the marks of every oil change drip and spill under the sun. ::)  I'm thinking next round of pics, in the next incarnation with the new seat band and repainted side covers (uh, actually really done) I'm going to get my bikini model friend to pose on her.  Just for aesthetic value, of course.
