Ha ha, I didn't even know what "tinnitus" was until I read your post TC, I had it last year and it drove me nuts, so one day I took a "prepwash" bottle (plastic squeeze bottle with a long thin plastic pipe, you can buy them at auto paint stores) filled it with warm, salty water and stuck it in my ear and flushed a heap of crud out.
Bloody amazing, there was little chunks of dark compacted wax, not to mention little pieces of cotton wool from cue tips. All of a sudden, the ringing and humming that I'd been putting up with for weeks, just stopped!
Oh, and if I can't sleep, I switch on my 80 gig Ipod classic that my Ma and Pa bought me in the US last year, and watch a movie. My oldest boy downloads heaps of movies and loads them into the Ipod, and because it's so small and with the ear pieces makes no noise, my insomnia isn't bothering anyone else.
I'm probably telling you what you already know Fuzzy, but make sure you keep off the caffeine late at night, I don't drink any coffee or cola after about 6pm, or otherwise I'm wired all night. Also, eating chocolate late at night isn't good for sleeping. Cheers, Terry.
