Need a Measurement of 750 F fork 77/78
« on: March 08, 2009, 01:06:15 PM »
Need to know,
dia of fork where dust seal pushes in, the ID.

also the depth of  this area the seal pushes into..

 Thanks, in advance.. 754..

Am looking at building a seal holder, fender mounting  piece to go to modern type fenders, like Interceptor type. This will be for 76 and earlier cb 750.

will also be a fork brace, if this works out.

I get 43.5 mm for the inside of the fork leg.  I just put new seals in.  Depth to top of seal is 9mm but only 5mm to the top of the spring-loop.  My measurements were taken in my cold garage in the middle of an ice-storm.  Maybe someone has new dust-covers to measure depth and diameter.

Would this look like the brace and fender-mount units on the CBX, ASCOT and others?  Great, I have fenders for a cafe project but no braces.

Somewhat like that, but the inside will have to go way up to the top of tire or higher, to mount a certain type of fender, or a brace.

To actually be a brace it would have to clamp firmly to the fork leg.

I am heading to town, take a better look at some parts..

I used a 500 Interceptor fender and made up these clamps to attach. Just turned the leg round in a lathe where the clamps attach. It can't be considered as stiff as a purpose built fork brace, but certainly does work. I laced an 18" front rim and the longer fork legs are from a 78 model so no issues with tire clearance.
