To save a lot of hassle and get an infinitely better product in the end, I'd put an order in to Mike for one of his billet blocks. I'm expecting the postman to drop by with one in the very near future. Drool!

Having seen Mikes blocks and talked to the machinist I can see why you would have trouble sleeping! The block is amazing -build quality is second to none. These things are way better than the RC block!  ;D You are going to have a lot of fun with it!

cheers

Sam. ;)

Hi Sam
The R1 will be coming out of hibernation very soon. I was thinking of doing the NSA sprint at Melbourne, near York on Eater Monday, but that might get scuppered by the weather. However, I've got an entry for the top speed event at Honington on the 11th April. If there's any spiders lurking down the exhaust pipe they're in for a shock!  ;D ;D ;D

Cheers

To all eco warriors, fear not the spiders are safe (for now) as it's currently persisting down.   :( :(

Meanwhile Mick and I have come out of the woodwork to declare that we are going to be the lucky recipients of one of Mike's super billet blocks. Who are the other fortunate persons out there?

I'm trying to get through the final prep of the original set now. I have received all the cylinders from the plater but have to finish bead blast, hand fit the base gaskets and oring the cylinders. I don't know how guys here have set cylinder orings but it is a PITA in general. I have sent 1 cylinder out so far and have another in a box ready to go. I've been waiting for this ash problem to subside a bit more before shipping it to England. I hope to have all of them completed in 2 weeks at the most. Then I'll start thinking about another run. ;) It is a lot of work to bring this all together and there is always BS on the way to completion.

I went back a few pages where you sat your NOS head on the new block and the fit looks better than the original.

Mike would you mind giving us another shot down the hole of the plating?
