How can I use POR on my fiberglass tank when the petcock is permanently mounted?

not knowing what the outlet looks like from inside the tank i make this suggestion/question. the petcock must be rebuildable correct? can it be dismantled enough that you could put a plug of silicone into the hole before coating? whether it's a formed hard-ish plug or silicone from a tube that you squirt in then cut out when the coating is done.
