Great thread, here is a pic of the '75 750F that I got for free a couple of weeks back. I got to run (somewhat) and rode it around the yard, hope to be on the road soon. Does anyone have the trim pieces that go along the bottom of seat? Mine are gone along with the stock seat.

Thats gotta be my favorite picture of a 750. Your son is like, "Seriously... I'm busy tightening this air filter, take the picture already." By the way, what is that orange stuff through the spokes?

Yeah, he loves to help me work on stuff, whether its the Jeep or our old Studebaker pickup his favorite now is the CB though. I think the orange is something on lens or a reflection.

This is an awesome idea.  Here's my cb750F.  Bought in 2005 for $750.  It's been a long road, but she runs like a champ now, and looks a little better too.

Gee Don, too bad you don't have a little more room in the garage  ;)

Nice 76! Now if you can just make a complete replica exhaust in stainless, hmmmm...... !

Newby here.  I have not had a motorcycle in years but started looking about 6 months ago.  looked at Triumphs, BSAs, Yamahas, and a few Hondas.  I have always been aware of the Honda 750 but didn't have much enthusiasm until I found a 77 750F on E-bay.  I had been watching for an older bike for about 6 months and the F really caught my eye.  Just a personal preferrence I guess, but I really like the lines, color, and the proven 750-4 engine.  I bought the bike, not running, and hauled it home a couple of weeks ago and expect to have it ready for riding in the Spring.

I take it that the fiberglass gas tank ruptured and caused the fire.  That's been my only concern with going with a fiberglass tank, but the aluminium ones are over a $ 1000. US so I'm still thinking about what direction to go.

What type of fairing did you have on the bike?  Bike looked really good and too bad it burnt up.

Carbs were off when I bought it, which helped with the purchase price.  Apparently the bike had been sitting in a garage for 9 to 10 years but ran well previous to that.  I am stripping parts off the bike in order to paint the engine, repair some wiring and brakes.  After all that's done I'm hoping cleaning the carbs will be enough to make it run.

You can find manuals on this forum in the faq section i believe. I think dr8es is just a more expensive spark plug. Go to the home page and put DR8ES in the search box and i bet there is atleast 1 thread about them. Congratulations, merry christmas and have fun.

I'm new to the forum and I really like this thread.  I just bought a 1978 750F.  Overall the bike's in good shape, but it does have a low charging problem and a few oil leaks.  I'll post some pics when I learn how to do that.   :)

Ikon's are KONI'S , Ikon bought all the Koni stuff, and is remanufacturing them. I find those to be some of the best you can do, they are rebuild able.  And worth the money!! There is a USA distributor in California now. The 7614-1296 # is for 750's.       http://www.ikonsuspension.com/      Head

I just picked up a 75F 3 week ends ago, The bike is in good shape except for the wiring, 1 what the heck were they thinking when they designed the wiring, 2 Does anybody have a wiring diagram for this? I have three manuals and they list 750F to 77F and it's NOT for this bike!!!!  Also I need the plastic box the wires join up in on the frame! I would like to buy one if anybody has a spare. The muffler is not stock, The seat was professionally recovered, not stock but a very nice job, It's blue, the paInt is very nice. The side covers need painted, I assume they came black as stock??? Any help in these matters would be greatly appreciated.   PS. After all these years of working on 750's this is the first F SOHC that I am working on!              Head

The 750F doesnt have a box that the wires run into. The all meet up in the headlight. Now the 550F has a box. Maybe your wire harness is not the original. The side covers were black or purple depending on your model. The wire diagram for the 77f is the same as the 78. Could be your PO swapped out the whole harness.

75/76 F's do have a front junction box. Is yours missing or does it just have the broken "hinge" syndrome? I will have a spare when I begin my teardown. It is broken and I have been keeping the 2 halves together with black electrical tape. Blends in well anyway. NOS boxes pop up from time to time on EBay but are rare. That's how I found my replacement but you'd better be ready for some serious bidding and search EVERY few days for a couple years possibly. New ones are not available from Honda. 32400-392-000 is the part number. Only other bike it's used on is the 76 750A.

Side cover factory color for 75/76 is Phantom Black. It's a flat finish. I have never seen it available. I have a NOS set of sidecovers you could have paint matched for modern paint IF you lived close.  You can find the Candytone Blue PB-3C in 3oz cans on EBay occasionally. The Candy Sapphire Blue is achieved with 3 steps using a silver lacquer basecoat followed by who knows how many blue coats then clear coat. I can probably find the sellers EBay name if you want it.

Which manuals do you have? I have 4. I think they have the wiring diagrams. The 75 & 76 are identical and the 77 & 78 are identical. The problem I have is scanning the old diagreams. SRust has a recent post which I posted the diagram to and someone else sent a better one.

Hope thats a little help to you.
