I bought this one in September of 1976.  It now has about 82,000 miles but is in excellent condition due to the last couple years of work.  The motor has about 700 miles on it.

Mods:
* Rick Stetson ported head
* Manley stainless valves; oversize intake
* hi output coils
* HondaMan ignition
* Lindskog balanced crank/rods/pistons/ clutch
* Shelby-Dowd wheels
* 100/90W halogen headlight
* Hondaline clock

Winter jobs:
* VDO oil temp, cylinder head temp gauges
* second front disk
* restore the gas tank  (what you see is original but faded)

Runs well:
 put out 65 HP on Harry's Machine Parts dyno in August

Others:  I have a box stock 1975 blue F and a 1975 F project bike  (low VIN  -  1060)

Sheik,
Great to hear from you. Like to see pics of the tank when you done. The oil tank is that round cylinder hidiing under the pod filters. We made it out of 4.5" Alum tube, 2 end caps, 2 -1o AN fittings, and a alum filler neck from a VW website. Works nice, would like to get an oil cooler if I keep the bike. Main reason for the tank was purely astetics. Wanted to see right through the frame.

I know this is off-topic but since I have all you F guys here: have any of you installed aftermarket tail light assemblies on your bikes? I really would like to keep the stock but a new factory lens is over $30 and mine is faded to clear. I know that the F lenses are different from the K lenses and I haven't had any luck finding a replacement. If I'm going to spend more than about $15 I figured maybe I should put in a LED tail light. Pictures would be good if you have them.

Thanks,
Nate

Mine is a 76, by the way.

That looks nice, ffj. I'm not sure if I'm ready to break stock yet on my bike. Does it light up red? The cops were trying to get me for the clear lens. What I would prefer is to just get a stock lens or full assembly. Send me a personal message if you have an extra.

Thanks,
Nate

the whole thing lights up red and then one 1/2 blinks yellow when you have the blinker on.

i dont remeber the model it was off of. they are pretty easy to find on ebay. Wiring was cake once i figured out what wires on it were ground and what was hot. It wasnt what you would think. Black as i recall was not the ground. But aside from that i just cut the original wires on my bike and wire nutted them to the tail light. as far as mounting goes here is a picture. For the top 2 bolts i drilled through the plastic. The bottom one i used the washer to clamp it on. Also looking at the colors i think white was ground, red was brake, black was running light and yellow and blue were the blinkers.

has anyone done a fork conversion, or some other sort of front brake replacement?

now that I am on the road, these brakes really leave a lot to be desired.

oh the rear REALLY sucks, the front just leaves me wanting more. I am trying to spend a few grand making my 750 what I would like it to be in the next year, rather than spending a bunch of grands buying a Duc of some sort so I can have a bike with real performance...
I know that one is a far cry from the other, but im not a racer, I just want the most control i can get.

Have you upgraded to SS brake lines and a newer master cylinder? Im pretty sure i can lock up the front if i grab a handfull of brake with my stock rotors and calipers. SS lines and a new master would be cheaper then a conversion by a long shot.

Why do you guys think the rear REALLY sucks?  What don't you like about it? The rear on my 75F is TOO strong if anything. It is double piston whereas the F2/F3 are single piston. It will lock up the rear in a heartbeat! Does this NOT happen on the F2/F3 or is this why you say it sucks??

Too bad we can't swap rear to front.

I rebuilt my rear caliper and cleaned and rebuilt the master cylinder because it would slowly start to lock up and I would have to pull over and open the bleeder to relieve presser. So now I do not pump it up when bleeding so it barely locks up.

that sounds like a master cylinder problem not the caliper. My back brake locks up just fine but again, i have a MC from and R6 and SS brake line. Stock caliper and rotor work great.

I know that the back brake is only for a much smaller fraction of the stopping. but I guess that in all fairness, it just doesnt affect the stopping as much as I would like.... and I wish that since the front isnt doing what i want, i feel like when I engage the rear brake more there were more of a reaction.

we also have to take into account that this is my first bike and i dont have any real base of knowledge here, and my desire for better performance comes largely from the fact that I am driving in NYC, where the need to make evasive maneuvers, and fast stopping is always popping up!
