Wow! What a great day... I went to the shop expecting to get some work done, but I wasn't expecting her to run, much less ride... I wore sandles
so Mark had all the fun.
Today the exhaust got bolted in, the new plugs went in, I put new gas lines on, we put new bullet rear lights on, rebuilt the exhaust mount, changed the oil and filter... and so on. Put some gas in the tank, cranked the engine for awhile to circulate oil and kabamb... a few kick starts later, she ran. Mark tinkered around figuring out the apparent exhaust leak and after he got everything tightened down, he drove around the parking lot like a mad man...
I can't believe how happy it makes me that this bike which was about to get parted out now runs like a champ!
Post Script: Yesterday Jon and Mark helped me get the new rear tire, shocks, and chain on. We changed out the air filter, put the carbs back on, etc, etc... If there is anything I left out, I'm sure that someone will remind me... Thanks EVERYONE for having in hand in this... the List includes Starkmojo aka Duncan for salvaging the bike, my little brother and painter extraordinaire Traven for the fabulous paint job, Mark Linder for all the hard work and patience, Jon for all his hard work and being such a good sport, Paulages for having such a fab place to work on bikes, Doc Brown for being such an amazing guy and having the best damn motorcycle shop in Portland. Oh, and Emmet for being such a good dog.
