Rear axle spacer order?
« on: November 28, 2005, 05:23:12 PM »
Hi again,

Just got new Dunlop D404s for the bike. I assembled the rear tire and spacers back in the order (I thought, doh!) it was disassembled. The chain seems to be offset a small amount and is binding a little bit.

Can anyone verify if my spacers are correct? The clearances appear fine on the bike so perhaps I just need to adjust some more. I just want to be sure...

Thanks,

Jeff

That left side doesn't look anything like the spacing on my 750 K0. What bike/model?
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

Here's a K model diagram from a K8/F3 manual. Hope it helps.

Thanks Bob,

I have that page from the manual but it's not too clear on the spacer locations...
Any K8 people out there that can check their rear axles ?

Thanks

I hope this helps. I crashed my stupid computer 4 times trying to get my $24.00 camera to download the picts I took of my bike.
P.S. It's blowing about 60knts and cold out there!

Big one goes on the right little one on the left.
Your spacers look nothing like the ones on my 78K8
See below...does it look cold? BRRRRRRR

Seaweb,

thanks for taking the time to post pictures. The width of the right spacer looks about the same as mine.
I'll leave it as is unless someone shows me a reason it's not correct.

Thanks again,

Jeff

"I'll leave it as is "? ?????
I thought you said.......... "The chain seems to be offset a small amount and is binding a little bit. "

Your left one looks to be to wide, by about 1/2 inch?

Good luck ;D

the spacers looks right.  I have a question though.  did you make sure the rim and tire are straight with the bike?
this might be an optical illusiong but it looks like the right side of the axle is a liitle bit forward towards the engine?
definitly double check the alignment of you axle with the witness marks on the swingarm.

hope that cures the prob

OK thanks cb and dusterdude.
I'll have to check the adjustment but it sounds like the spacers are in the correct place.

Thanks,

Jeff
