Vintage camera buffs, what are these worth...?
« on: September 03, 2009, 05:19:05 PM »
I am getting rid of some of my old camera stuff. I used to use the old super 8 camera but getting it processed then running it and transferring it to digital is way to much hassle, especially now that someone else gets paid to do it.  ::)  Anyways whats any of the this stuff worth? Its all in good working condition and everything functions properly. Not sure of the years late 60- early 70s?

The gray camera is a "gaf" anscomatic st/87

The all black camera is hanimex loadamatic

The black with the silver strip is a Bell & Howell focus matic 672/xl the handle is not broke just detached

The last two are film cameras, one is a Kodak Hawkeye instamatic plus the flash and bulbs and case.

The other is some stylin' polaroid folding camera with the brown case but the glass on the viewfinder is cracked.

Last but not least is a Kodak 8mm film projector.

Sadly, not much. Go to eBay and search completed auctions with "Super 8 Camera"
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

The Polaroid SX 70 with case in tested working condition could be worth $100-150.  Damaged and of unsure condition much less.  Maybe the case would have some value and help sell the camera.

We made a display of old 8mm cameras to accompany a display of manual typewriters. I think they're cool as artifacts from life before the computer age, but aside from that, I think unfortunately that they may be tag sale material.

Technically, Polaroid and its film are history. Whatever film is still around, stashed is getting very expensive. However, there is a group trying replicate the Polaroid film manufacturing process and it's referred to as the Impossible Project.

I'm guessing if they succeed, the end-product would be film aimed at the SX-70. Time will tell.

I have a really nice sx70, the chrome and leather one that I got back in the day.  I stopped using it even before they discontinued the film as it was expensive even then.  One of the great gadget cameras that still seems to have a following.

Unless you need to buy food next week, I can't imagine why you part with any of it?

Leave it all to your kids, if no kids then hang on to it until you meet someone young who will love it all, and pass it down in the same manner.

A local museum may also be very interested.

That said................$350.00 is my offer, I won't re-sell it.

A good point, I do have some more super 8 stuff which I am keeping but I just dont have any attachment to this stuff. The stuff that I do want to keep that was handed down to me and actually means something and is packed safely away.  This stuff not so much... It was simply bought at a yard sale a while ago and I had pretty much forgot about it until I moved. I dont have a lot of space at my apartment and my parents are renting out a room so I dont trust it there. Only other storage I have available gets way too hot in the summer to have stuff like this in it.

Now kids, thats a funny thought...  ;D
