The Engine number and VIN arent the same from my understanding, so you might be in for some trouble trying to register it using that.

If its a CB750 the frame number is stamped in the neck opposite of where the VIN tag went. That should be enough for registration purposes.  The VIN tag is duplicitous. Has the makers date on it which doesn't matter.

Again, if a CB750 the frame number and the engine number are NEVER the same. I think that is true for all Hondas as well.

Use the frame number.

Wow, really? The numbers must have been ground off at some time. They (State Police) have etchings that can bring out the ground off numbers like the serial number on a gun that has been ground off.  The material is compacted deeper than the visible stampings, and will still show what was there, like the 5th page of a notebook someone has written on the first page then torn it off.

Possibly could be a brand new frame that was never numbered, don't know for sure if that's how Honda would sell a replacement frame. Its how they sold replacement engine cases, no numbers.

Anyway, its ancient history now and possession is 9/10s of the law, or some such.  Have fun.

The vin tag is, legally speaking, almost worthless.  They really care about the stamped numbers quite a bit.

DMV zombies might put it through, but without the stamped numbers, a cop looking at your bike will suspect it's stolen, and he may be right!

Florida will not even look at that VIN tag.

I've heard that someone bought a custom bike, and the painter Bondo'd over the VIN stamped numbers, and when he tried to get it registered, they took a pocket knife to the custom paint to get at those numbers.  Maybe you could try sanding in the area on the left side of the neck to see if it got obscured somehow?

my title has the engine # on it and not the frame#. these people here didn't even look twice and i got an antique tag and they didn't even want to see the bike.

I told them I wanted an antique tag instead of a regular tag. They gave me the big spill about you can only ride it on weekends or in parades etc with one of those tags, then I said thats fine and they gave it to me. I never have to buy another one for it and I ride it anytime i want to, had a cop or 2 behind me never had any problems. I've got antique tags on everything I own except for my 2004 pickup truck. I do live in TN and they pretty much let anything slide here no vehicle inspections or anything. The only thing I own with a catalytic converter on it is my truck. The rest of my vehicles are true dual exaust except the bike and its a 4into 1. oh yeah any vehicle in this state thats over 25y/o can run an antique tag.

Florida has no restrictions on an antique tag.  But I have to pay $25 (probably more next year) a year...

Thats strange,  here once you buy an antique tag its good for as long as you own the vehicle. Thats why I run them on everything I own that I can. I'd run it and if your ever stopped just go get a regular tag, my guess is a cop wouldn't say a word about it unless they nailed you for something else. Like I said though this is TN and you can go get a car tag here without even having a driving license or showing proof of insurance.
