NOMINATE for Bike Of The Month - November 2009
« on: October 02, 2009, 08:57:25 PM »
Here we go again, the Nomination Thread.

October BOTM Thread - http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=58542.0

Looks like we already have one nomination.

It's not very often that I don't vote for the winning bike and this one was no exception, I hope the lady rider don't look as beefy as this brute. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Getting back to voting for the winner, Novembers winner will be Kevins Purple Haze. ::) ::)

Please Mr Tipper, accept this as the first nomination for next months BOTM.

"Purple Haze" is beautiful..one of the prettiest SOHC 4's I've seen on these threads.  Unless some really spectacular contenders are nominated..I know which bike I'll be voting for..

Wow; thanks! Especially considering the present months company

Here are a couple of new pictures....I love Fall in Iowa!

I wasn't very good in keeping a project build going on this bike, so here is a brief rundown on the work I did to this bike for those that are interested. It is a '72 cb500 to begin with. I completely rebuilt the engine using new chains, etc....put in brand new one size over pistons and a 650 cam. I modified the front of the frame by cutting out some of the pressed metal and added in a nice curved piece of DOM to go with the flow of the bike/engine. I then hardtailed it using the same. The rear fender is a '36 Ford spare tire cover ring, and the sissy bar is just something simple I bent up. The wheels/hubs were two-staged painted by a friend and I added some buchanans spokes and nice vintage Firestones. The handlebars are some Aces bars made by Biltwell. And the color; not only did I think that it fit the bike, but I love a nicely done brown (rootbeer, or whatever you call it!)

Again, thanks for the feedback...this is my daily rider so sometimes I just see it as a means of transportation until I get a thumbs up or a "nice bike dude" while on the road!

Cheers
JD

Killer looking nominees this month, that's for sure.

But it's one thing to build a killer scoot with the resources of an industrialized country, and another thing again to have the cajones to do it in an agricultural island out in the middle of the ocean. For being crazier than the average Islander (and that's really crazy, Mon!) I have to nominate Loaferoatan's Honduran CB750.  RR
