I hesitated to say anything about this, because I didn't want to make lite of the problems that some were having AND I felt somewhat self conscious about I was up to.

Anyway, without further delay, I "accidentally" found a 1969 Plymouth GTX (fancy road runner) on ebay yesterday. Now this GTX had several things going for it. #1 it is the same body design as the road runner, #2 THIS ONE was Gold (same shade of Gold as Brenda's road runner AND the only one I'd ever seen, except for Brenda's). #3 It had the wide black racing stripes ( like MY road runner did) AND #4 It had a 4 sp transmission (like my 66' Dodge Charger, that I traded off for MY road runner) So you see, THIS car had several things that were brought to mind. I kept an eye on it for a bit and though it over, deciding that IF it were possible, I was going to GET this car (IF it didn't go too high). Well, the time came and I went for it and

If anybody deserves to treat himself to a great car like that, it's you!  You deserve it! :)

Thank YOU for that, Gordon. It's going to be like stepping back in time! ;) I planned to try to get this car as a Tribute to Brenda!

I need to get a plate made to go on the front bumper that simply says

                               Miss
                                  Brenda

You see, when Brenda worked at the school as a teacher's aide, that's what the kids called her and the same happened at Bost. Hush told me to name one of the motorcycles (GPZ or CBX) Brenda, but I think this car is more fitting. Now, to get that plate made. ;)

Thank you, It was something how I happened upon it. I am STILL amazed at how things went down. The seller was most cooperative. I told him about why I had the interest in his GTX and he was impressed, told me that my story was COOL and that he was sure that the GTX would be well taken care of IF I got it. Next thing I know (after I commented to him about the idiot who kept raising the bid yesterday, he told me that he'd listed the car once before with a higher reserve and that bidder was doing the same thing last time but never got to the reserve. Then, this morning, he lowered the reserve AND told ME what it was, saying that he would feel alot better if the car was in MY driveway (cause he'd know where it was and that it was in Good Hands). Well, I go get that sucker Monday (far as I know now). Gotta get with him on the phone tomorrow and make plans. ;)

Here's the motivation under the hood!

;D  Ya KNOW I'm gonna HAVE TA PUNCH IT, just to feel the power. 8)

            Here's some info about it:

Most of the money spent on this restoration went into the motor, it was built by Self Racing, the 440 block is a 1974 model but it has the original heads and steel crank, the heads and block were decked, the motor was balanced and built with 9.5/1 forged pistons and purple shaft cam P4452993.  It has a 750 Holly vac. secondary and an aluminum underdrive crank pully.  I also replaced the stock radiator with a high performance aluminum 1" dual core. with additional ele. fan.  This engine has never overheated, runs all day at 190.  This motor is very powerful at 10.5/1 compression and must run on premium but runs best on racing fuel.  I installed a high performance zoom clutch kit, it never slips and with the stock hurst shift linkage you never miss a gear.  This engine has less than 5000 miles on it.  The Magnum reproduction wheels are 15x8 in front and 15x10 in rear with 5.5 backspace.  This car does not have the original Dana 60, it has an 8-3/4 with 355 gears, this was in the car when i got it.

Thanks for that! Yeah, the engine is in great shape w/ only about 5K miles on the build and these engines are pretty tough. Most of the cars I've had over the years, have been big block Mopars. (2 66' Dodge Chargers, 2 69' Plymouth road runners, 74' Dodge Royal Monaco (ex state police car) AND the power train out of a 70' Chrysler Imperial that I was going to transplant into a 68' Dodge Pickup.

Now, once again, I have a 440 car to back up my username

i would kill (not really) for one of those pre catalytic converter, big block, full sized chrysler products sedans. i drove a late 60's mercury ex state police cas back in the 80's and i'd love to get back into one of those.

people forget the blues brothers rode one of those... it wasn't a gran fury they had.

a marine buddy of mine had a collection of the big 'c' bodys. his fastest was a mass state trooper car (fury) with a nicely done 440 dual quad. poor little wheeze-bag police crown vics didn't have a prayer. it was the first car i went over a 150 mph in and that 5000+ lbs beast actually handled "well" too.

the adventures we had...

sorry for the hijack.  ::)

the cool thing (as if there was only one cool thing) about having a classic 'b' body mopar is that there are far more parts available than around 10 years ago. ya gotta do a you tube clip of that  mighty rb block rumble.
