Steve, by toast do you mean rusty inside or rusted through? Can vinegar bring it back from the dead?
BTW, I also just bought another bike and will be picking it up tomorrow.

Eric

The tank may be salvaged but won't be used for this bike, I'll find one in better shape.
The cap is is rusted on, I was unable to remove it normally to look inside.
Looking forward to seeing what you picked up.

That got delivered fairly quickly.

Yes, I've used this same shipper from NY a couple times now.  When I contacted him, he was anxious to leave the frigid northland to head down to sunny, warm Texas (67 degrees later today).
He was headed to AZ from here, he had a nice Formula Ford SCCA race car in the trailer that was his next stop.

Ha Ha I don't blame him for wanting to get down there. Call me if you need a gardener or pool boy or a bike polisher !!

I could use a tile guy for this bath remodel the wife has planned!

Worked on a Benly motor. Unfortunately when the po or his mechanic took it apart he was careless with the fasteners so have to find early ones to try to keep it somewhat correct.

I have some NOS parts for these Benlys. If there's an oddball part you can't get over there let me know, I may have it.

First ride of the year, bunch of guys on there bikes, it was called the (frosty balls) it looked like i was the only Honda there, go figure.
It was the first time in 35 years this bike felt the air again.
found out i need to adjust something could not get over 5000 in 5th gear not sure way?
but had a blast we traveled only 80 miles but was fun, had some beer, hot dogs and music.
There where over 500 riders that day and 55 deg.
its was on the 15th of these month. What a sight on the highway

Enough oil in the battery? ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Dragged home a basket case '88 Katana 1100F today. Had her running in 15 minutes!  ;)
Tore it down to give her a bath and ordered $40 in odd rubber mounting bits, $30 for a clutch master cylinder rebuild kit
and $110 for a new sticky rear tire. It has begun... (The emptying of the wallet.)  ;D

I changed the ignition/key assembly with something that actually works.  I'm surprised at how inexpensive a new lock set was and how quick it installed.

I also made a portable gas tank and stand.  Scrap lumber, scapped gas tank from rental company, 5 dollars in brass fittings.

Was hoping to finish my drag bar install with new throttle cables courtesy of '4 into 1' and a Motion Pro throttle tube. However, that came to a screeching halt when the push cable bolt snapped while tightening lightly. Great product! Nope. Hope they have a decent return policy. Oh well, it's currently -21 windchill, so no riding anytime soon.

Well that fills me with confidence, having just received throttle cables for my CB500 in the mail from 4 into 1.

I will tighten carefully...

It has begun. (The resurection of the latest basket case.)
After removing the obama-rigged/bugger welded exhaust that was on the bike when I got it, Just to see if it might work,
I tried the SS Yosimura exhaust system that I had planned on using on another project ('93 GSX1100G) that is supposed to be
for an early Bandit 1200...

I will have to lose the rear passenger pegs and the spring perch for the center-stand. As I am going to remove the center-stand anyway,
not going to be a problem.  ;) Believe it or not, that ugly/greasy shock is AFTER cleaning it several times with engine degreaser! YUK!
The shock will be changed out most likely.

Some before pictures and during the destruction/restification pic's...
