Con grads Frank and I wish I had the time to go racing like you guys do
you must work some killer hours during the week to be able to race like you do (I am jealous too)

Up Date:

I talked to Larry at Dynatech and this is whats going on

the Sam-auto system (Modulator) is bad but the gray coils are still good. He also said one or both of the pick ups are bad too.
Larry said that sense the modulator box and the pick ups don't have a date stamp on them (The gray coils had a date stamp)
We need to find the receipt for the system to get it replaced at no cost.

My 2000 is also toast as the modulator and pick ups are bad.
The Dyna mini coils are bad as well and the rotor pick up is the wrong one so just damn for the whole thing
I dont understand how they did see this the first time I sent this to them for a check up but oh well.

Larry said that if we cant find the receipts that he can charge us his cost for replacement which is almost 60% off the list price
and thats not a bad deal considering that my system is two and a half years old. I will give this one more try and see if I can get the 2000
to work but I am not holding my breath

I have called Bill and Mike R to get them to start looking for receipts
but Bill will be switching over to the MSD Box and will use the 2000 as a back up (If it gets replaced)
even if the box goes bad we still have what we are running and it worked with out a hick up at rocking ham so if it aint broke
then don't fix it

Given the foregoing regarding the Dyna 2000, I think it just sank down the list of possible ignitions for my JMR1080.

The situation with product from China today, reminds me of the stuff that came out of Japan in the late 50's, early 60's - junk.

Jimmy, Let me have Larrys Email contact details and I'll get in touch with him.
I have dates when I paid for the module but the invoice/receipt would have gone to Mike as the module was not in stock at Valdosta. The module was shipped from Orient Express in New York to Mike sometime in March 2010. I can contact Skip Dowling at Orient Express who should be able to confirm this.

Let me say this about the MSD stuff, in the case of the MC3, if the unit goes bad, you can plug in a module supplied by MSD that bypasses the box and with a dyna S and coils, the bike will continue to run as if the MSD ignition never existed. Now how cool is that??? Not getting stranded is a good thing!!!

July 16th at Orangeburg is a VW car race. The next points race is the following weekend but we plan to make the MIROCK race up in Maryland then. Its back to the ROCK for the next race in the series in August.

And now for the bad news. Due to a pending heart attack, the doc has put me on a realy strict diet

this means I could be weighing about 140lb by the time I reach Valdosta, watch out Mr Benton.

Not the best news regarding the heart Sam, hope this is strictly a get ahead of the curve precautionary measure.

That said, if you get to 130. you'll make my fighting weight, and then I'll know how quick I could be on the Samauto.
