Am I just an out of touch old fart?  What the hell is a "street fighter"?  It looks pretty stock to me.  Does that mean my stock F1 is a "street fighter"?  Am I tougher than I thought and maybe need to go out and kick some ass? ;D ;D ;D

No, us old farts aren't out of touch it's just that today's young people are idiots that think they need to sound tough when they speak, no matter the subject.

"Streetfighter" started with Buell if I am correct. The idea is a stripped down "naked" sportbike. Good handling, fast, lots of power(and yes, a little bit obnoxious). More like an R1 or GSXR sans the fairing. Z1000s and FZ1s are also good examples. Though those are originally designed to be sport tourers for "old farts", they are a blast to ride and are very quick. And their mid range torque makes them ideal for pulling sick wheelies and "looking tough". There now go take your fiber and watch wheel of fortune!  ;D

Streetfighter was a term first used by British motorcyclist journalists to describe stripped down sportsbikes. They are much more popular in the UK. Long before Buell.

That makes sense, cause they get all the cool stripped down bikes over there. They tried to sell the hornet here, but it didn't do well. First streetbike I ever rode, actually. I really dig the cb1000r. Thanks for setting me straight! I heard Buell was the first to use USD forks on a streetbike, is that also untrue??  ???

And on this trip to kick my ass, would you be bringing your hemorrhoid pillow and extra long reach grabbie thing??? You know what I am talkin' about!

Wow- 30 years ago I'd be on the bus for that girl.

I saw street fighters on the streets of San Francisco in the late 70's.  Bikes built cheap out of whatever parts could be had and painted ugly to discourage theft and who cares when some f*** runs over it when parallel parking.

Would not have a clue.  We were driving back from Texas with a pound of weed in the trunk and a cooler full of beer in the backseat.  It was legal to drink and drive in Texas at that time. :o  I remember we thought it was a great looking town and the vibe was good......or was that the weed and booze? :D

Well the weed is pretty good here still... It IS a really cool town. Lots of history(oldest town in TX), college is here so lots to do. Good country roads in all directions. Only thing, there is one motorcycle shop here and its HD only... Good thing I can take care of myself!!! I will keep an eye out, I'd bet that house is still around. There are a whole lot of houses that were built late 1800s early 1900s. I don't see us moving elsewhere, 'cept maybe just west of Austin. Or Australia or New Zealand. I think our families would have a slight issue with that though!

+1 Andy - it started with Bike magazine in 1983 with the Ogri replacement cartoon showing Japanese fours tricked up like the streetfighters we know and love today. Soon after a british bike journo used the term for the first time albeit to describe a custom job done to make an HD look sporty which is possibly where the buell connection comes in, not sure if Buell was the builder of that first streetfighter or not. It was then extnded quickly to Jap fours as specialists like Harris with their Magnum frame kits and later Spondon came on the scene. Spondon GSXR1100 streetfighters were just amazing things...

I would put both the old mare Surely, (74 CB550) and the Big Comfy Couch, (80 GL1100I) against any same class and model year.  I might not win, but you never know. ;)  Does that make me a street fighter?

And yes there is a difference...Nakeds are bikes like the FZ-1, Z1000, Trumpy speed triple etc.  Street fighters are bikes you make your self.

upright moto bars, bigger rear sprocket.

He used that term and all his other giveaway terms to sucker some kid into buying his pos bike.

Technically (even though no one know his name :D) Mlinder is a bike builder. So there's that.

Just yet another person's attemp at trying to take advantage of someone else.
