You know our British mentality, if there's a queue join it, if they need it then I must too. Me? I call it selfish.

My daughter and son-in-law (both born and raised in Michigan) now live just east of Columbus, OH. They chuckle at the local folks reaction to a forecast of 2-3 inches of snow; run to the market, gas up the car, etc.  ;D
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

Haven't had snow in a week.... now we're getting 12 inches by 1pm.

Took me 90 minutes to get 18 miles. People seems to forget in a week what it's like to drive here.

Last year we got close to 100 inches of snow total. Not much elsewhere in the country but a record here.

I drive a F150 2WD Supercab. Damn near 25 feet long and I seem to do just fine.

Flat roads and all here in IL but seriously? 25mph on the frickin highway?

Some people should have their licenses revoked for stupidity.

I live in the bible belt of USA south.  We use the biblical method for snow emercencies.  GOD put it down GOD can get it cleared.

Use 'Cat Litter' on the ground, if you can find some, apparently that is getting in short supply now.

I reckon that after a couple of heavy weeks christmassing and new yearing God's gone off to the beach.

Nice work on your snow man mick, are you panic buying in Asda like the people down south ;D ;D ;D

Dave ;)

Never seen anything like it, there was a near riot outside Budgens yesterday morning when the milk truck rolled in. They couldn't stack the fecken stuff on the shelves fast enough. There were people buying 20 litres of milk. 20 litres of milk!!! wtf are you gonna do with that?? Chuck it all out in a week.
We're no better than a 3rd world country.

So it's official, buying milk is a world wide response to Snow.

For the information of all snow drivers, the best snow tires are Bridgestone Blizzacks. :)
And if your dealing with ice these work great too, without studs.

Actually when you get tires replaced ask for Snow tires, most times you have to wait for them many places don't sell them. They look like normal tires, but the compound used is one that does not get hard when it gets cold out. That is the key to good tires in the cold stuff, be it white snow or ice you want soft pliable tires.. The trade off is they don't last as long.. but you can still get some good mileage out of them.

i just order my own tires from tire rack and then get them mounted and balanced.
Summer tires are high performance for summer, winter tires are high performance for winter.

I run the Blizzak WS60 on the subaru, I call it ice velcro.  ;D

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Bridgestone&tireModel=Blizzak+WS60

also as a cold rain tire hard to find something better. In this picture it was 40 degrees raining and spitting sleet.
The ole fwd Lancia was cooking that day on Blizzaks whilst everyone else had some sort of performance summer tire on.  ;D

Yea, if I read the info correct on those Blizzaks they are also soft in the cold (also have good water channeling). I could not afford them so I got the Copper version, probably not as good but they are 100 fold better then what I had on my 4x4 before I got what I have now. Unless I miss my guess, they are also very good in mud and sand and soften the ride quite a bit. The trade off is the side walls are not as stiff but unless your zipping around the track I can't imagine it matters much.

Scott, you've got it right. It's amazing how hard a sticky race tire gets when it's cold.  ;)
But a soft compound snow tire doesn't. Don't ask me how they do it.  :)
