i'm shipping a guitar and small amplifier to Mass from SC and i'm wondering if anyone here has done much shipping of guitars that could maybe suggest who to use.

My 12 string was shipped through the usps. Got here in one piece and that a couple of years ago.
Put insurance on it for sure.

Oh yea, don't use United.

Proper packing is essentail, either way. 
But- compare Greyhound rates to the Post Office.  Someone has to be willing to pick the box up at the destination going Greyhound, though.
