what about that project were that guy fitten a VFR alternator into a CB750 crank and case! sounds like the 550 might have enough room... since they had to make a spacer to fit inside the 750 case!

Very much overkill with the cost of machining unless you could do it yourself.  Go back and read 750essess' thread again, and look at the cost of the upgrade.  $400 I believe it cost him just to machine the adapters.  Much cheaper to tune up the stock system to factory specs and then change to using led's and HID head light to save a few watts.  Also get a early switch block that has the on/off switch for the headlight.  Makes a huge difference to turn the headlight off.

Hi you said don't change our the old charging system and to ask you why so I'm asking why cause I was thinking of changing it

Anders has an upgrade for the 750 and was considering development of a 550 upgrade (32 amps), but he needed a donor bike.

I think he also needed a few more pre-orders to get to the minimum number to be viable

I believe you are correct.  I bet there are enough "interested" people but that might not equate to people committing to buy the kits when made, so Anders is not left holding the bag. 

I'm good for one, and a 650 if he ever makes one.
