Topic: good performance shocks?

any brands recommended for my 400f? the stocks are okay, but old... looking for a good shock for pretty aggressive riding, not necessarily looking to cash in my retirement savings though

ikon's are a nice blend of quality, performance and sensible prices...

I just ordered a set of Ikon. I like how they have a few different springs to work for different weight riders. I also bought a set of progressive fork springs (that they don't have on the site).

Now they just need to get to my door!

  There's a quote somewhere on here about $400 shocks on a CB being like putting a fur coat on a hooker.  Not my opinion, but I thought it was worth revisiting.  And I don't know about you, but I  think motorcycles were meant to be ridden, and hookers....oh farkle.  Forget I said anything

i have had my Boge shocks on my cb750k for 3 years now and other than the springs being slightly too heavy for someone smaller than me (360 or so) they perform great and the price was right at 69.95 or so.

If you are talking performance shocks you should take a look at Works and YSS.

Well if you want to stick to old crappy shocks or cheap shocks then you know you get what you pay for...all depends on what kind of riding you do. If you are the more sedate type and just want to potter around town on a Sunday then its true you wont need $400 shocks.....but for the more spirited rider any increase in performance (from whatever part) will certainly be noticeable....go out and try a CB with $400+ shocks and compare to the old ones - difference is amazing!

As for hookers...well i wouldnt know about that...perhaps the OP of the original quote had more experience on that front   ...

Just make sure that all involved, tires, swingarm bushings, steering bearings and front fork are up to it or you will be dissapointed with whatever shock you choose. Just shocks will not change your bike if one of the other is nog good.

Any body done any experimenting with different swing arms and mono shock??  Do any factory swing arms from other bikes line up? Is it something to consider?

You're funny Simon . Yeah...it would certainly make a great mantle piece. I'll say the welds are fantastic....there is no way anybody can knock them. Unfortunately the rest of the package was BS.

your right , i like the product but they tend not to deliver [ well not in the same year or so ]  i wanted one for my F2 but in the end i got a second hand devida arm off ebay , much easier

I'll be going Works shocks. They have a lightweight line. The people out at the track here who use them really seem to like them.
