Hello! New guy with 76 750F cafe project! :D

Hello all! New to the forums here, great place. Looks like lots of AWESOME info!

I've acquired this 76 CB750F project bike.

It runs and rides, but I wanted to spruce it up a bit.

As you can see in the pics I've modified a CX500 fuel tank to fit, and built a custom steel tail piece.

This is my first SOHC, as I'm usually a KZ650 guy... thus my custom tail hearkens the style of a KZ tail piece. :D It's similar, but wider, and deeper.

The engine is pulled from the frame at the moment waiting to be cleaned and painted, then have bits polished afterwards.

Frame will be getting blasted and get a load of Champange Sparkle Metallic.

I'll document as I go. I'm also building a very different oil bag for this that some might find a bit over the top, but hey, it's mine. lol

(I do welding and metal fabrication for a living and have build a good number of cafes, streetfighters, chops, bobs, and hot rods, so if anyone has any tech questions that I may be able to help out with, please let me know!)

On to the pics!

This is how she looked when I got her. Like I said, runs and rides, but needs a lot of cleanup and stuff....

After fitting the CX500 tank.

This is with the rough fitting of the tail piece stop. I hadn't done any finishing at this point...

This is with the tail piece completely finished. Pre paint. :D

With candy over the steel.

With clearcoat over.

Will update after I get the mill all painted and cleaned up. :D

Oh, sidenote... as much as I love the look of the vintage wheel setups these are going out the door in favor of a complete GSXR750R front and rear end that I have laying in the garage from the other projects I had.

Not to nitpick but that is a K bike not the F.  While it is always possible the engine is from an F and it would be hard to tell visually, that is definitely a K bike frame.  The big question: What happened with the grenade hanging off the ear of the frame in the first photo. ;D

Wouldn't know one from the other myself. Just going by what I'm told by the PO. All I know is that it's NOT a KZ650. haha

It would be a CB750 K6.  There are quite a few differences with the CB750F so if you were ordering parts for an F you could be in for a surprise.  Welcome to the forum. :)

Doesn't come close to fitting without modification. Very far off actually. The front mounts are way too far apart, it's longer that the stocker by a ways, etc.

I'll get some pics of the underside sometime soon.

Okay, tank is painted, frame is bared down and ready to be cleaned before blasting and paint. This is more just an update for the tank paint.

The tank emblem mounts weren't flat shaved cause I will be getting a custom badge waterjet cut out of aluminum and copper.

Now to put this pretty stuff aside and get crackin on the frame and other bits before re-assembly. :D

You did a real good job with that seat and tank.  And the paint job is genius!  Really stands out.

Thanks! I have a few other things to figure out still.. like getting my custom badges cut at work and making some rubber knee panels for the tank, striping, etc.

I'll keep this page up to date. :D
