Shame on everyone involved.

The school, the other kid's parents, and the community. Good on the judge for trying them as adults.

They should chemically castrate the adults for not teaching their children manners and morals as a result.

It's sad to see the girl couldn't live on with that torture, but at some point we all experienced some sort of bullying..... Maybe not to THAT extent.

Since there is no other viable course of action I guess locking the kids up is a decent punishment.... I guess.

She dated several boys that apparently were dating these popular girls at the same time...

So they called her irish whore etc...

Threw crap at her, chased her home... etc.

If my mom knew I was doing that to someone.... I'd get my ass beat for years to come.

She shagged two of the bullies (not sure if they were current or ex) boyfriends.

Shenanigans ensued.

Not really sure if they know it was "shagging" or just plain rape...

Sometimes these groups with "untouchable" member are taught by their parents, peers and superiors that they are better than anyone else. They are raised as sociopaths.

Statutory rape and sexual rape are two different things.

From what I understand it was consensual, but them being 17 or so and her being 15 made it statutory rape.

Personally I am saddened by her suicide angry about the bullies but I think this DA is being a little overzealous in this case.

She due for reelection this fall?

Every spring (in my case, june) I count the years since high school graduation and am filled with intense gratitude.  I'm half convinced the only people who actually enjoy high school either smoked enough pot to not remember it, or are serious sociopaths.

Oh come one Kit, I enjoyed high school for the most part and I didn't smoke any pot back then.

You had a little fun back then, right?  :)

not a whole lot, Dook. I won't bore with details, but there's a lot of reasons why, two weeks after my graduation I put everything I owned in my geo metro and drove from WI to Oregon.

Kit I think you are half right.

I smoked but I remember it and enjoyed it slightly.

You know I missed it for the first few years but then one day I really thought about it and didn't know why.  I used to get picked on being a bit of a outcast but then for some reason after columbine I got left alone... Might have had something to do with the trench coat and very heavy looking backpack I had attached to me all the time...just maybe.  Columbine was a tragedy but I'll tell ya what.. The outcasts sure got a bit more respect after that.

I was too quiet to be intimidating.  I got picked on for being an intelligent introvert.  I thought my extremely high score on the ACTs and relatively high IQ score would mean something.

nope!

Where I went to high school in the early 70's trench coats were cool, not ominous.  I still have mine hanging in the closet. :D  Glad I grew up before the internet/facebook/cell phone era.  There is such a thing as being too connected at a young age.  It's 24/7 and you can't get away from it.  You didn't and couldn't hound someone 24 hours a day then.  I hope they go after these kids to the full extent of the law.

bullying has and always will go on,,its human nature,,pecking order,,sometimes to the extreme,it happens with adults who work in factories, police stations, hospitals and fire deparments,i hated school full stop,,i didnt turn out too bad though,i got bullied, mates got bullied,in primary school when i grabbed a kid by the throat it stopped!in high school it stopped after i chased a kid and really hit him hard in a head lock a few times,im only five foot four and got pushed around a fair bit, revenge is sweet.,to have a suicide in youth is terrible, there must be more to her tragic life than the media puts out there.,as posted above we never had all the electronic media then,,when you got home it was over till the next day.

High five!  yea that was me throw marching band in and we got a deal going.  And I never claimed I was intimidating.. far from it lol.  Just after Colom things changed.  And for some reason my Sr. year everyone put the petty #$%* aside and we all got along.  Its like people started growing up... That and the others just plain got expelled or dropped out.

I never really got picked on too much, if I did I was always able to handle it. I was the guy that hung out with everyone, the jocks, the nerds, the skaters, the goths, etc. etc. I was on a first name basis with everyone in my grade and the grade above and below. Worst thing I had to do was kick a kid right in the chest, he kind of fell down the stairs.  ???

Sounds like me too Caave, if you were cool with me I was cool with you back then, didn't care who you were, kinda the same way now only I'm more laid back.

I kinda got picked on because I was a skateboarder in junior high and because I was kind of a puny freshman in high school- I was about 5'10" and 135.

But I started to lift weights and wrestled so I bulked up pretty quickly and no one was stupid enough to bully me around once I got to sophomore year and beyond.

I even had the soccer coach pull me aside my senior year and ask me if I was taking steroids because he remembered little puny me when I was in his freshman PE class. I guess that was a compliment but I had to tell him I wasn't, I spent a lot of time in the gym in high school trying to get stronger and faster so I could take home a championship medal.

All we had were the Jocks, the Heads, smart kids, and the AV Club. ;D  I smoked a lot of pot but I was also in the chess club all through high school and was one of the best players in my school of 500 so I could straddle the divide.  I grew up playing baseball with the jocks but gave it up to get a job to afford my car, sailboat, pot, and girlfriend so I worked from 15 on instead of sports. ;D

I just don't remember much bullying or what there was was short lived.  The teachers did a good job of keeping you in line and were not against using a little physical intimidation.  I got thrown against a locker by one for being an ass once. ;D

High school for me was god awful I was 6'1" and the synapses were not really connected properly, couldn't turn around with out falling got bullied unmercifully, at 17 I was a boy soldier and all the divisions between bullies and their prey disappeared, everyone learned quickly who was at the top of that pecking order  and "high school hysteria" didn't cut it and when I got to my squadron there were retreads from  WW 2's military organizations and various countries you learned not to prod them. so bullying was out for you and everyone else, plus you had a purpose and that cut out almost all of the silly school boy BS.

High school sucked for me too, I had a searing case of acne and was painfully shy. I drilled it into my kids that all the HS bull has nothing to do with the real world. My class reunions seem to be a meeting for phonies and braggars. I enjoy watching them try to convince each other how great they have done.
One guy works as an engineer, at the 10th reunion he pointed out a classmate saying his profession in the book said service tech but really he worked for Roto Rooter, making fun. I said I know, I work for him, what's your point. The reason he wrote service tech is because of people like you.  There was a back pedaling and word eating festival, what an ass.
