call up weisco or something, they might have some rings to fit...  i work for a piston ring manufacturer, but we don't do automotive/motorcycle rings like that, sadly

as for the welding to the fork tube, i don't know if anyone has attempted it.  i hear welding on the old aluminum can be a bit tricky

You cannot weld the mount for the caliper to the forks because the clearance of the fork tube is only.001 and as soon as you weld that aluminum tube it will shrink and distort and not be round anymore. End of fork leg. Mistake O Grande.

I had some Cerriani forks that had the mounts welded on as they came with no mounts at all. That bike was drag raced for years and Terry now has the forks , they are fine....  I have seen it done before , I think if you have someone who knows their #$%* with a tig you can have them done, ask lots of questions

I am not to concerned about the fork, it seems to work just fine. have not taken it for a ride yet, but seems to work alright in the garage. :)

Lucky: thanks for the tip about the piston rings, will check it out. As long as they do not cost more than the cheap 836 kit on eBay :) :) ?

Hi there!
Any progress on that swing arm / oil tank?
Yes, I'll shamelessly admit to wanting to do the same thing and I hope that you see that copying is the ultimate form of flattery!! ;D
The rest of your project looks great too. 8)

Hei:)
Will fill at the top.  Drain/feed, ventilation, and return goes inn at the bottom.Just remove the feed line to drain the tank.. Most of he oil will be in the main tank and ca 0,7 litres in the oilfilter hidden under the swingarm on the feed line. Will remove the filter inside so the filterhousing will hold only oil, and let the oil flow freely:)
You can see there are drilled 3 holes to the arms on the side, if you look closely at the picture. So this will restrict the oil from moving to much in the arm :)

That welding on the brake reaction arm is very poor. I would take it off and give to someone who can really weld.

Those have no provision for chain adjustment.  Your approach is probably better.

There's nothing more expensive than a free bike...
FWIW, I'm not a shill for Race Tech - I've just got a thing for good suspension and the RTCE's are the most cost-effective mod for these old damping rod front ends.

Those Buell swingarms certainly are a work of art but most but their drive is on the "wrong" side!!  :-[
It looks like the Rotax powered ones went to a LHD although I'm not sure, at this stage, if they had an integral oil tank.
Rework a RHD  Buell one to make room for a chain you say?!
That's a lot of work and to be honest I don't think it would not look right, in my opinion.
Plus what Syscrush mentioned about the lack of chain adjustment.
I like your approach better, but I may end up building one from scratch.

Keep up the great work and enjoy your winter.
We're about to enter our summer with a 27 degree spring day :)

Could you point out the poor welding on the "brake reaction arm" and perhaps give us a lead on "someone who can really weld" in Norway?

I really hope you report back with all the info on the fuel injection. Great idea.
Here are the photos. First the brake reaction arm very poor welding and below the problem with two different bolts on the front axle wit gap on one side. . But maybe you knew about that. Don't know.

750essess' thread here ->http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=30624.475 has a lot of great ideas from a lot of guys that are going down the FI road.

By the way, did you ever get that "oil tank-in-the-swingarm" finished?

Again, thanks for all the posts on a great project.
