I can't make it bigger to see, looks a bit like my S83. ;D

No red bike.  If your talking about the purplish bike with the fat guy and the kid, that's me and my boy riding in Daytona on an 83 rubber mounted Shovelhead Harley Davidson.

Hey that's a beautiful BMW race bike Buca, I'm playing with a R100RS project at the moment, tell me what you've done to achieve 85 BHP mate, I love my "Bavarian Murder Weapon", but I laso have a 2007 Triumph Rocket III, and the BMW feels a little bit underpowered in comparison? Cheers, Terry. ;D
Hi Terry, working lot to make that. Most important mod is longer stroke. Typical BMW 1000 cc cylinder dimensions are 94 x 70,6 mm. Mine is 93.43 x 72.6. I use forged flat top piston from auto racing program and machined con rods longer for 11mm and smaller bering. Stock is 48mm mine is 45mm . Con rods are carillo style H beam made from light aluminium alloy. Heads are R75 with biger intake valve. Must use smaler head chamber due to flat piston to get comression 10 to 1. Camshaft is 286 with 0.8 mm more lift. But stock R 90 S cam will do the same. I get these by chance and it is good. Take lots of weight from flywheel/clutch assembly. Allmost 2 kg. From crankshaft 0.5 kg minus. On piston/conrod 130 gramm less than stock. Dellorto carb 38mm. Reving up to 7200 but is good for 8000 safe on shifting. I get biger stroke on crank with offset machining for smaller bering diameter. For hill climb use 3.36 ratio that is 175 kmh on 7000 rpm 4th gear. For road racing 2.98 wich is top speed 215 kmh.

I made crank myself. It was most delicate work of all. Because I machined conrods ( not me, in machine shop!) I can  choose smaller flying  bering, from stock 48 mm I make 45mm . That s why I can ,when machining crank , make 2mm offset .Center of flying bering in that case move for 2mm and make longer stroke. very simple bat must have good and skilled machine operator. But in that case all original  surface hardening is gone and only base material left on crank. Then cranks must ( friction surface) be re chromed . That is the trick, but after do it all right that crank is allmost 100% wear free!I use con rod berings from BMW car racing program. From E 36 engine . And pistons are for early M3 models 4 cyl. 2.3 lit engine. Also cast cylindres for that pistons because of specific dia. Stock BMW R 100 is 94mm and mine is 93.43 . I want to cast cylindres anyway . Cast it at Solarevic Machine works . We make this year first few replicas of Fontana drum brakes 250mm.
Think that light pistons and con rods are better investment than big bore. Asymmetrical cam is ok. Give useful, wide  power and torque band.

Glad you like it. One more thing my crank is not 180 flat. but 182. Engine is smooth through whole rev range and reving so fast and light that I must be very careful not to over rev it. Zero vibrations . Reving almost the same in 2nd and 4th gear. And four speed gear box is better than five speed!!

One of my projects is this chopper. Frame is modified IIWW zundapp ks 750 side car , engine honda XRV 750 everything else, pretty much, made by myself. Did not finish yet due to priority list change in favour of Transamericas motorcycle world record attempt 2012.

Ha ha, well I had a Yamaha XT500 once, and to be honest, that 650 wouldn't have been much worse in the dirt! ;D

This nice example for sale here in NZ of a 72 Suzuki T350, I had one of these as my first "big" bike and being able to attain 100 mph any time you wanted was the ultimate thrill. Looking back they were pretty agricultural and who decided brown was a good colour for the cables?
Still there is something thrilling about the resonant sound of a 2 stroke twin (T500 T350 T250) from those long chrome pipes...... ;D

Always had a soft spot for these little beauties, they were a dime a dozen when I was growing up and with the arrival of the Jap stuff no one seemed to want them much.
It's one of the few real vintage bikes I would give garage space to. ;D
