OK, so most of you know me on here as the guy with the fugly CB550 bastard cafe racer, and the replacement CB750 sidecovers...well I have a new toy- project. I have been looking for a Honda 3 wheeler all summer, and last week I found one on CL from a guy on the other side of town. He told me ahead of time that it was apart and "waiting to be restored", and in his basement there it was.....apart. He had everything perfectly taken apart and in nice little piles. So, then lets get to it then.

This is how all projects start off right?

DAY 1
BEFORE

carb needs to be cleaned
Took it all apart (I refuse to buy rebuild kits unless really really bad)
I use an ultrasonic cleaner with orange degreaser and the heater on.

WOW. Mine came with a good front fender, no tires, and my seat pan is worse than that. I am not sure of the year on mine. The guy told me 81 but I think it might be a 77. I tried a VIN decoder on an atv forum and it said "invalid".

Day 2

I powerwashed all of the junk, and degreased with orange citrus.

tank before (pinholes, jb weld...and rust galore)

Going into the electrolysis dip. This was the first phase, the next one was a full dunk with the mesh surrounding it for 24 hours. wow

This is what my goal is.....just a clean stock look, not a restore, just clean. Then I will beat on it.

Going together OK, but..tires lose air within minutes, spark is weak, I stripped the idle scew in the carb, have a cup O' leftover nuts and bolts and dont know where they go, large washer from rear axle goes where? petcock (petrol lock for SAM750A) leaks and the threads are gone to tighten it up....anything else? looks great though!!!

Fresh paint with new decals. I used an epoxy fiberglass to fill the pinholes and line the tank.

Am I an idiot? What am I missing. Strong spark, clean carb?

My back is killing from pull starting and all it does is *pop* every now and then.!! Help me out

Check your valve timing

Looks like you can download a pdf shopmanual here - http://www.freepdfmanual.com/2008/11/15/honda-atc70-official-shop-manual-1973-1984

Once you have the manual look up how to set TDC, adjust valves and finally the points

Give it a small shot of starting fluid and see if it at least fires up for a couple of seconds. Also make sure the idle screw isn't set to low.
