1 year, 1 month, 1 day later I would of been born.
I don't remember it other than learning it in school.

These are interesting to read. Yall should start another one about the moon landing, etc.

Only major event that has affected me like this would be the 9.11. Wasnt very dramatic for me. just confusion. Remember we all thought it was an accident for a couple hours.

Bobby Kennedy,Martin Luther King,.....didn't seem to have the impact that JFK or 9-11 did but still tragic. I would put 9-11 at the top of the list though because it was like we were being invaded and all those innocent people were killed.WTF???......

I was only six at the time but still remember as if it just happened. I live a long way abroad, the Netherlands, but a lot of people where crying even the next day. Still think the world made a turn to the bad.

I'd just gotten out and was living in Vancouver and figured Oh #$%*! Keep my head down and if it got worse, back to R.C.A.F station Comox, to the orderly room and join up again or grab my Enfield and head up to the interior of BC checking for wind patterns and wildlife, some where around 100 Mile House.

I was in 4th grade at the time, and for no apparent reason, they told us to get our coats on and to go outside...it wasn't recess time either, and we were all kinda thinking that the school building had a problem or something.  About a half hour later, were were called back in and the teacher, Mrs. Jones, was showing signs that she had been crying and was upset, and then they told us over the PA system what had happened.  We were all wondering what was going to happen next.  We weren't let out early since a lot of the students had to be bused home, and the buses weren't due for a few hours.  So for the rest of the day we were told to get a book and read and be quiet.  I remember the funeral on the television, and all the news reports that took up all of the television time for the next week.  It was a sad time for us all.

Some amazing similarities here.  I was in 11th grade History class, Wheaton High School, Wheaton, Maryland.  They made an announcement over the speaker that the President had been shot.  About a half hour later they announced he was dead.  Shortly thereafter school was let out and classes didn't resume for about a week or week and a half.

Interestingly enough I was walking through the living room at a friends house when Ruby shot Oswald, live on the TV.

The US and the World took a turn that day, probably a bad turn.
I was about seven miles away, in a 5th grade classroom in Oak Cliff.  The above statement couldn't have said it better.  Worse was to come, and it's still coming.

I was a freshman in college, rode the bus 120  miles home to pick up my car that day, listening to the radio all the way.  Could not come to grips with it for several days.

Oops, forgot to say that I was in Mechanical Drawing class in HS, when e heard about it and were dismissed for the rest of the day. I just couldn't believe it. Guess I was naive and never thought about something like that happening. Then, as the world watched on TV, Jack Ruby just came right up and Killed Lee Harvey Oswald! As if things weren't bad enough. Watched the Funeral procession complete with the backward boots on the horse. Got to visit Arlington Cemetery some years later and, for me, to stand there and see the grave with the "Eternal Flame" was an eerie sight.

Returning from lunch I think, (I lived on the school block and was allowed to go home for lunch.) I remember being confused and wondering if we could get a new president and what will we do?

I was driving between two of my freshman college classes and heard it on the radio. As I recall, there was one TV in my neighborhood and so all the families gathered there to watch the news. They reran Cronkites reaction many times that night .... and still do. They had to delay his report to wait for the tubes to warm up in the studio cameras. They would have not been needed till the 5:30 CBS evening news so they were turned off.

When i visited dealey Plaza i was struck by the small size of the area.  On TV it looks big but it really is quite small and when you visit it you can see how easy the shot was.  I think he might have been shot through open sights.  Its really that close.  For a marksman no trouble at all.  I was not a Kennedy family fan but this was truly an Ameriacn tragedy.

Forth grade dance class. One of the crossing monitiors heard it on someone's car radio. I was pretty shook up to hear the news. I remember endless reruns of that tape all the following week. An unreal experience to live through. I remeber Kruschev even had a tear in his eye.

I was in the 3rd. grade and the teacher, Mrs. Smith came in and told us the President had been shot. Always remember that day because it is also my parent's wedding anniversary.
