You can teach dogs to do almost anything. My missis taught our Bernese, Toby, to get clothes out of the washing machine when she was waiting for her hip replacement operations. It was hilarious 'cos Toby got so obsessed with making sure everything was out of the machine he used to almost climb right in to get that last sock or something.

Border Collie, most intelligent dog in the world.
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

Very cool. Now if I only had a dog it would be a border collie...

My daughter has a Jack Russell and a 100lb lab mix.  The little dog had no fear. Tears around like it's on meth.

The mechanic I go to, Jerry, has an older Gold Wing (well over 100K) and a little screw-tail bulldog named "Baby". Baby has about 50,000 miles on the Wing - goes everywhere Jerry goes. It is a strange sight going down the road.

The dog really loves to ride! Quite a sight that turns a lot of heads! It all started when Jerry went to look at two pups. One ran from the bike and Baby actually wanted to get on it - amazing. 'Didn't take long for Jerry to decide which pup he wanted!

For the record Anna is an Australian Shepherd (Basque actually, before you southern hemisphere folks get too excited...), but Border Collies are supposedly the smartest.  ;)

I wouldn't advertise the fact that there is any Aussie in your dog Paul, not only will it lower the intelligence quotent of your immediate area but the dog will either start humping sheep or next time you ask him to bring you a beer he will drink it and bring you an empty! ;D

I got my golden retriever to fetch beer but he drooled on the cans. got him drunk once and he wouldn't touch the stuff after that. Smarter than some humans.
The wife took him to fetch the neighbors paper when they went on vacation, he got a treat for his work. One day he was laying around thinking and rounded up all the neighbors papers, I guess he wanted to turn them in for treats too. He would also carry in groceries. He liked carrying paper towells and TP best.

You must've missed my disclaimer, Mick... Australian Shepherds aren't Australian at all, but rather bred from Basque dogs in California. Go figure...  ::) In any case, I'm off the hook.  ;D

All this talk of dogs, I thought I'd advise you not to buy a Labrador.

Why?

Haven't you seen how many of their owners go blind  ???  ;)
