I don't know if it will be the morning of the 18 but it should be some time the 18th.  If we go I-40 I am sure it would be morning but I don't think I want to take the interstate and Radam didn't seem interested either.  does IT need to be there in the morning?
No, IT doesn't have to be there in the morning. Just trying to get a feel for what works best for you guys. If you get there on the 18th, take a break, and continue on the next day, the relay can be in DFW on the 19th.
BTW, I started a thread just to deal with the AR-OK hand-off...

Update on my motor: still not here. Paid for it on Dec 4th, and they guy is in upstate NY and due to the weather he didn't ship it out until January. Talked to him today and he's been in contact with the shipping company and evidently they've lost it. He's supposed to check back with them tomorrow to see if they've located it but assuming they haven't, he's going to ship me another motor. Probably take another couple of weeks to get here, which doesn't leave me a lot of time to clean it up and give it some proper test runs around town before taking it out on the Rally.

On a positive note, I did 75 miles on Saturday on my KZ and it seems up for the challenge. It's just a bummer that I won't be able to "fully" participate. Would really like to have my name on that banner. :(

The "rule" states that the mascot can only be carried by an SOHC4. Nothing says participants can't sign the banner.. :)

Just dropped by to state that my lil' 350F seems to be doing well.  Starting easily, breaking well and handling fine.  I need to get new tires still, but I did get insurance this weekend and will be accessing and trying to get it tagged tomorrow morning.  I plan to test it a bit before I take it on the AR leg of the rally with Radam.

Will im trying to figure out if ill have the bike on the road and ill also be moving to AL for flight school wheen the rides just getting there. My question is if i get the in time can i ride a few miles with you guys and grab a few shots? I want to be in on this ride and be able to say I there for every annual ride but  my only thin is ill be on my way to report to a army school so one i wouldn't have alot of time and two on the bike i am risking an injury ( i know its part of riding) and that would drop my one chance to become a aviator and fly blackhawks. I know i would be pulling alot of miles but i really want to be part of this ride and if it was just for a mile to ride with some forum members before I start a hard ass school Id really love it. Let me know if I can ride, Ill get there with the bike.

According to the "schedule" thread the handoff from KY to TN is supposed to be on 3/26ish.. but Silverback isn't getting the handoff from VA until 4/2 was thinking he had until 4/9 to get it to TN. Is that the plan? Then the following weekend down to Barber?

Yep, that's it Tug......... Silverback picks up the mascot on April 2nd and brings it home to Lexington (KY). Then sometime between then and the weekend of April 16 th. we meet-up with him and carry it down to Barbers ( to be there on Sat. morning the 16th.)...... I think we should meet S.back in KY @ Russel Springs, right about 1/2 way between Nashville and  Lexington and using back roads to get there should be a nice ride. Howabout the in- between weekend of April 9th......???  You, Mid-Tenn Jason and Meself ( SOHC ! ) and maybe JAG ?, anyone else from Nashville going to get Godzilla or taking him on down to Alabama ( B'ham ) ? I'm up to do both.

I'm up for both as well, I think. 9th & 16th sounds good. Oh, and supposedly my motor has been found in a depot in Maryland and is supposedly on its way here. Should be here next Wednesday.

Heard from Jeff Ray @ Barber's a couple of days ago.  This is his latest email.
"Hello John,

April 16 is on a Saturday and is a Porsche Sport Driving School Day. We can work on a perimeter road ride around but unless he is here after 5 PM the track will not be an option. I will put you in touch with the FloraBama riders. This is a great club in our area. We will do something interesting here with media. Do you have a press release ?  Do we have an estimated time yet or will this materialize the closer we get to the date? Media likes to know times!

I am out of the office until March 16 . Keep me informed.

Jeff"

It's close to nut-cuttin time.  Tugboat, Jag, Spanner, and Jason, I don't know how you guys want to work the handover from Silverback, and if you all want to ride together.  I remember someone saying something about riding down here on Friday the 15th with Godzilla.  If you could get here by 5 on Friday, that would be a really good time to do our thing with the museum.  It would also mean he could be on the way out of here to LA and AR early Sat AM.  Touch base with Silverback, and make a plan, then let me know what you think about Friday the 15th at Barbers.

I spoke with Popwood today, he will be writing a blog on Motorcycle Classics web site detailing the ride as it unfolds.

For an outfit with absolutely no organization, I think we can pull this off in a big way!

John Baldridge - YOU ARE THA MAN!! You guys are doing fantastic.

Now about "Do you have a press release ?" .... I have never done a press release but guess I can take a shot at it. That's about all I haven't done yet  ;) Would anyone have an idea or format for something as important as this?

No organization  ;) What a fantastic group of guys! Maybe we can get good by 2012  ;D 2011 provides credibility.

Update: Just got a call from the trucking company and my motor will ACTUALLY BE HERE tomorrow morning. I say that because saying that it will happen will make it happen. Right?!? SOOOOO.... I should be able to get that thing cleaned up and re-mounted in the next couple of weeks. Ray, you wanna give me a hand now that you're Eastside?  ;)

Re: Russel Springs - that sounds fine for the 9th. Maybe stay the night and then come back the next day?

I should be good for the following weekend as weekend as well. Y'all wanna try to head down to B'ham on that Friday as suggested?

Good news on the Motor. Here is hoping it does show as planned. I can help a couple days if you need a hand. Evening or weekends are fine for the most part.

April 9th to Russell Springs works for me. I would probably prefer just a one day trip on that day since we are looking at a multi day ride the next weekend.

A Friday the 15th Dax Day departure would also be fine for the ride down to Barber. Anyone planned on someplace to stay yet? Camping or inexpensive hotel?

yeah, lets get the fricken motor in Tug :D :D !.... we NEED another SOHC to go get Godzilla. This weekend I could help.  The ride to Russell Springs is only about 130 miles, so no point in staying overnight there.... hell, lets get 'Zilla back to Nashville and get him a few beers in an Eastside bar  ;D

Good question Steve,

Birmingham to Little Rock to OKC is about 700 miles in 2 days.  Doable.

JTB, Scottly – does this agree with what you are planning?  Barber on the 16th and OKC on the 18th?

BEEP, BEEP, BEEP!  BACK THE TRUCK UP!

We may have a problem.  When I looked at a map, I noticed that the Bham to LRock to OKC route would mean no Louisiana!  Reading back through the thread, I found a post on Feb 2nd to take Godzilla to Shreveport after Barbers.  But that's the last time I see LA mentioned.

Bham to Shreveport to LRock to OKC is a 1000 miles and change in 2 days.  Still doable, but getting close to Iron Butt territory!!
