Aluminium Wheel from Thailand
« on: January 17, 2011, 09:14:37 AM »
I am going to get some aluminum rims for my 550. I want 18s. I was looking at all the options at Buchanans but am still unsure what to get. They all work out to be around $500. I found a set in Thailand. Any body used these? they have a set for a CB350. The 350s are 18 front and rear so maybe that will work. Seem like a good deal.

CB350 is 36 hole , CB550 is 40 hole rim so 350 won't work for you.
I don't think the rims are a problem, they are probably all made in same factory for various manufacturers then stamped with different names.
I would contact guy, ask about getting 2 rears only (or, if you can afford it, get 2 pairs and advertise the 19" as vintage flat track rims  ;))

The price is good, no doubt. The fact that you have to wait a month is a bit of a hassle.
The Buchanan's are expensive, near $200 or more each, but they are drilled specifically for the spoke set you need and since I'm getting spokes from them anyways, I did order a pair from them.
You might also try billetboys, they have some different sized rims on ebay that might fit your purposes.
This project started in confusion and will end in disarray.

I would still have to buy spokes from Buchanans for the front 18" wheel.
