@ TG:
in fact, one of my friends is selling one of his Hawks. when i have more infos, i will let you know.
@ fang: thx for your positive feedback. fortunately the scout belongs to me. i bought it end of 2004 (unbelievable how the time goes by) from a norwegian restorer. 2005 i tried to solve some leaking problems, but wasnt completely successfull. in the meantime i made over 3000 miles without major problems. one time the indian was unwilling bringing me back home: the main jet needle broke and pluggled the corresponding orifice in the carb. some epoxy saved the day and at home i was able to solder the broken parts.
one will ask, why i do have so many dyno graphs to show. my friend peter, the one who is responsible for the incredible power of the guzzi engine retired and sold all the goodies from his bike shop (Bridgeport mill, voest lathe). i bought his dyno and now i am wasting all my time to improve the performance of the bikes near my hometown
back to modern bikes:
everybody knows the new ducati multistrada (winning the Pikes Peak this year). its a multipurpose bike, a tourer with the power of a modern superbike. 1198ccm, 2 zylinder 90°V engine, 4 valves per head, fuel injected. ducati claims 150hp.
the bike does have 4 riding modes: enduro, sport, urban, touring, every mode with its own settings, you can choose between 100hp or 150hp, different suspension settings (spring preload, in and out dampening a.s.o.). a horror thinking of a failure or an electronic issue, but have to say that i did 5000km without any problems so far.
its good to hold the engine above 4000rpm, otherwise there is a chance to loose all your amalgam fillings (this bad behavior is the result of the emission restrictions our politicians made).
