CB550 / 650 Head
« on: April 07, 2006, 09:35:57 PM »
Hi Guys.

New to the site as member.  I was wondering if the CB 650 head would fit onto a CB550 motor. Thinking about doing the CB750F piston modification to get up to 591cc and the larger c/chamber would be a benefit I believe.

Thanks
jt

Physically yes but not sure what else you will have to change e.g. studs, rockers, top cover etc
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

Manifolds are slightly different (cast in rather than bolt on) bigger valves though so carb set would bre a good idea if you can get hold of it. Cam sprockets are different (hyvo on 650) but isnt a problem unless your fitting 650 crank to 550 cases (longer stroke 700ish I think?) Get a complete head as rocker box/covers are different on 550
I have most but not all the parts for mine when (if) I get round to it.
