In a another post, I unloaded on you guys on how I came about a decent trailer and
changes I had made. I'm always looking for ways to improve what I've got and I thought,
why not do a post and see what kind of response it will create. So, what do you think? I know
we'd rather ride the bike than to haul it but sometimes it's necessary. Later on, Bill

I always look at the thickness of the webbing.  If it is thick the ratchet is usually good.
When I tie down a bike put ratchets on front and cam locks on back unless its a long haul and double up in front with anything even rope.   We go through several at work during the year.
I usually shop around buy what looks good and and if it turns to #$%* I wont use it on my bike.
But I have mopars too so what do I know!!!!!!

As far as the Mopars go, you, me & several others are in the same boat, Terry

I need to get ratchet type for the frontof the trailer. I used another type when I hauled an old 63' Jawa 250 back from Henryetta, Oklahoma to Arkansas and it's a got thing I stopped a little ways down the road (to check the bike) because the bike was loose. Well, I took care of that. Later on, Bill

Reminds me of a well used HD joke/

Q) What do a dog and a HD have in common?

A) They both know how to get in the back of the truck on their own.

I like using those loops that go around the bars and frame first.  The other thing is, if you have small wheels, keep in close touch with the bearings- they burn up fast.
Dude- your 8 layers are showing!

    Hey Uncle Ernie,

I've seen those loops and I think you're right, those would be a good thing to have.
And, as far as the wheels go, I've got 12" wheels. I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to check them
once in a while. Normally, I don't use the trailer much, and when I do use it, I probably
don't put more than 30 miles ( and lots of times less) on it maybe once or twice a month.
Now, if I'm going to make a trip of say 50- 100 miles 1-way, then I'll take care of the
bearings before I go. So far, the tires and bearings are in good shape. I appreciate your
response & your comments. Later on, Bill

Forgot about the loops.  Use them on the race bike but not on the 360.  Just make sure the hooks are still covered in the protective coating or put a rag between them and the bars.  Use the loops to the lower triple tree on the 650.  Found the bars turn a little.

Well, that is one thing I do keep up with is the hooks on the tiedowns. When they
start looking a little ragged, I strip the covering off and replace it with a couple layers of heat
shrink. That seems to work quite well. I've never had any experience with the loops before
and may continue with just the straps. I only used the ones that you just pull down to
tighten and I have had them loosen up. I will definitely get ratchet type for the front from
now on.  Thanks Terry         later on, Bill
