Yeah, the left hand side has had a fully usable pannier bag fitted since day one. I keep a 30mm thick shaped panel of foam rubber in there to help the bag hold its shape.

The oil tank side bag was made to be a bag that I would have fitted and used if I ever moved the oil tank - but I like it better as an oil tank cover.

I love this bike.  The seat is exactly what I was wanting to do this winter so that I can finally 2 up my bike.

Thanks - I find this seat is great just one up, gives plenty of room to slide back and lean forward when I want to wind her out on the freeway.

Thanks, glad to hear I bought good shocks - I just saw them on eBay and they were local so I took a gamble - they certainly feel harder than the original ones.

Yeah I actually ride them on my 550. I ride it hard and weigh 220lbs. (hence building a 750). I thought they were way too stiff at first but it seems- judging by the bottoming rubbers- that I am using all of them whenever we ride mountains. So hairpins and lots of curves here.  And the bike just feels planted in corners now. I preloaded my front springs by about  3/4" too and 20weight oil. When I first installed them my font felt super bouncy. Now it's better.

Win some lose some, it's all the same to me.
I will never die

Okay - so I have been advised not to ride the bike with the carbs the way they are or I will met the engine by continuing to run too lean.

Fair enough - I do have four carb rebuild kits coming from USA with stock jets in the kits, but I think I need to go 120 mains based on the fact that:

 - I am now running a 4 into 2 into 1 race pipe setup with a Lossa muffler.
 - I am now running Tintip's antipod filter system.
 - I (think) I am already running 115's and it is still too lean.

So, where is the best place to buy CB750F carb main jets, I should grab a set of 120's and the next size up whilst I am at it.

This could be the last post.

I picked up my bike from Terry's place this afternoon. Terry did a great job sorting out the carbs with a set of 130 jets, now the bike starts easy, runs smooth, idles low and deep and powers along.

So this project is at the stage where I can let it go, I need to do this so I can concentrate on the CB450 Black Bomber build, and so I can tidy up my VFR750 daily ride.

Therefore - the High Tea Racer is now on eBay.

Wish me luck!

Cool, and congrats.

FWIW, I'm not a shill for Race Tech - I've just got a thing for good suspension and the RTCE's are the most cost-effective mod for these old damping rod front ends.

Jack, the mirrors came from a store in Sydney, Australia called 'Motociclo' or something like that. I will find the store online and post a link here for you.

Good luck Cliff, it's a shame you're selling it, but you'll eventually buy another one, CB750's are like Johnny Walker, not particularly exotic, but very addictive! Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Oh - I have plans for the next CB750 project, don't worry about that Terry.

My aim is to build a CB750 that pisses off as many people as possible on this forum, generates heated debate about my engineering and styling decisions, and comes close to getting the thread locked.

Do you reckon that is a good basis for a project?

Do you reckon I can do it?

Meanwhile - I am enjoying the view (while it lasts...)

And here is the eBay link to the advert for the bike.

Holy crap!  :o I have a picture in my head on how I'm going to start my 78 F2 and the seat and side cover bags are almost exactly what I was picturing.  You bike looks amazing!  You made those side cover bags or bought them?  I absolutely love your bike. Hope all goes well as this on your next build

Your bike really turned out nice. I know you have had a ton of questions on the seat. Would you mind posting a few pictures of how the rear fender and taillight are mounted under the seat hoop area? Also, for your rear turn indicators did you just drill into the frame area just behind the shock mounts?

That's too easy! Take a very nice stocker, post lots of pictures of it, then start talking about cutting it up for parts, making a chopper/bobber/cafe out of it and stand back!  ;D

What is this "return of the Cafe Racers" of which you speak Cliff, I have Foxtel and am eagerly awaiting seeing what butchery those turkeys come up with in season 2, but so far, nada? Is it back on? Cheers, Terry. ;D
