Topic: Fuel and Vacuum lines

how do you measure tube sizes (diameter wise)? and what tubes do i need (like fuel resistant?)(what are the tubes called?) or can u use any kind of tubing that fits?

also where does the in line fuel filters go? and what kind do you need (circle kind or ice cream cone style)? (look at pics)

also where do the fuel filters go? i would imagine it would be where i placed them in my professional CADD rendering

i need to do all the vacuum lines and fuel lines on my bike.

so the tubes in-between all the carbs on the rack, all the lines coming off the bottom of the carb, and the 2 fuel lines going into the carbs.

also the big fat vacuum line coming from the airbox to the engine....

is there any other tubes i need? my bike came to me in a pretty shoty condition

The filters I use are these - or something like it - from autozone or O'reilly. They're Max Power brand, which is cool because it sounds tough and because that's what Homer changed his name to once (he got it from a hair dryer though).

I think the fuel line I use between the petcock & the filter & the carb is 3/8". Not sure about the ones that connect the carbs together. Good luck!

Theres not a lot of room for filters on a CB550. They make a 90 degree bend filter but, since it's all gravity fed, there will be a great chance there will be a low spot in your fuel line between the tank and carbs. I try and keep a constant downward slope for this stretch of fuel line. Maybe you could make use of 90 bend fuel fittings. Good luck. I believe all my fuel lines on the 550 are 1/4" not sure what the drain lines are, smaller for sure. You don't need fuel grade for these lines since gas isn't passing through them a lot or shouldn't be. Same with the camcover vent tube.

I tool the float bowl and the petcock to the bike shop.  Only need two sizes and got the one that fit the best. 
You will need 2 different sizes.
