Very nice bike! Also wondering if that is glass or steel, also can you get a close up shot of your gauge mount? Thanks

It's a glass tank.

The mount is basically a strip of aluminum with two "U" shapes cut out. I don't have a pic, but it's pretty simple to do.

ieism, what kind of chain is that?  All the gold ones I see are o-ring or xring.

It is in fact an o_ring chain. I have an offset sprocket to make it clear. An o-ring chain won't work with the stock sprocket. I couldn't find a non o-ring chain in gold, and I really wanted one.

I was wondering because I too was looking for a gold non-o ring chain.  Where'd you get the sprocket?

My local sohc partsguy had it, but that's useless to you because I live in the Netherlands. I've seen a tread about it here about 6 months ago though. They can be ordered from some sprocket specialist.
Maybe check the faq parts-section?

Our FAQ only has links to sprocket manufacturers, however, I was able to compare the front sprockets' part numbers for a 550 and 750 and they match.  Measurements are identical.  Maybe this was common knowledge, but I'm happy.  This was from:
http://www.jtsprockets.com/52.0.html?&L=0&sel_uid=4113&p=#ratio

The rears are a different story, but that was to be expected.  You didn't have to mod or change the rear sprocket did you?

The offsets are available in the US from CycleX, again, I hear their name thrown around but only for 750 stuff.  Given the specs from jts, if they're identical besides the offset CycleX's sprockets should work.  I'm worried about the design though.  Look at the shape of the teeth of theirs compared to the stockers.  I wouldn't think the design of the pins of an o-ring chain are THAT different as to require uniquely designed teeth.

You don't have to offset the rear. The front is only a slight amount more to the left. In fact the space between the enginecase and the chain is about the same (that the point of the offset sprocket) .
I didn't take pics when I put it together, and don't feel much like taking it apart this week. I can ask if my partsguy has a pic somewhere, if he does i'll let you know.

No problemo, I'm sure it's pretty cold there anyhow.  It's been pretty cold here in Dallas, TX too, been in the 30's here lately.  Go ahead ahead and laugh, I know you're thinking "ah yes, time for my bathing suit".   ;D

A couple of more pics with the carbs back on. right after the testride. This is pretty much finished now, just want to ride it a lot now (but it's freezing).
So this is also likely my last post in this tread  :'(

I KNOW you're going to put some kinda gold graphics or pinstipe on the tank and seat, right?  That would be, like totally radical dude (Think Keanu Reeves in "Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure").  I too was thinking of a gold caliper and wheel center, looks good.

Nice bike. What kind of exhaust is it? From Benjies?

Are the engine polished or painted?
