Custom Sidecovers
« on: July 15, 2011, 05:47:52 PM »
'72 CB500

I got sick and tired of looking for side covers so I loitered around the local hardware store looking for alternatives.  I found a big roll of aluminum sheet metal (for siding or Gutters?) and made myself up a pair.

PS: I have enough aluminum to make maby half a dozen (or six) more pairs.  I'll cut them out and ship them to you flat and unpainted for $20.00 for the pair(which includes shipping). These could be polished up real nice or painted (with something better than a rattle can like I did) and would look sweet. If anyone is interested PM me.

NOTE: I can't guarantee that they fit anything other than a 500/550.

Good job, man.  It's nice to see somebody doing a homegrown workaround.  How do they attach?

I was in the same state and went with a slightly different solution:

This is a paper mockup.  I still need to get the vinyl cut for the aluminum version.

That's awesome guy!

I attach them with rip ties (rip ties are cheep so if I need to get under them I just cut the ties).

I've decided to put custom graphics on my set.  I'll post pics when they are finished.

Just scroll down to "CB500F"; @ $48 apiece... not that you really need them now!  :D
