I would sell any of my bikes, except the 1977 CB550.
It's worn and tatty, but, it was the first bike I ever bought brand new (and still the only brand new bike I've ever bought)
I'm kind of attached to it  ;D
Not sure why, but I just noticed your avatar pic.. That is great... Were you drivng and really took the pic or did you find the picture?

I took it as bike was rolling up to 100,000 miles (really closer to 106,00 as I broke a few speedo cables)
When I fitted dual disc's I modified speedo drive.
It 'broke' more than once  ::)
I think speedo is actually reading 99,999.6 miles and just over 100mph 8)
(the angle makes it look less)
 Cosina CSR, 50mm lens.
I forget film and settings (probably Fuji and F5.6~F8?)
I guess it was the dumbest great picture I've ever taken  ;D

I loved my 82 Cb650. I was always boasting, Last of the SOHC's!" I bought it for $350, put in about $500 and several 1000 man hours taking it apart and putting it back together. I loved it. But it wasn't the best highway bike so I decide to go larger. I wanted to keep it so bad (2 bikes would be a collection!) but 2 things changed my mind... the buyer giving me my asking price of $1995, and riding my first CB750k. The second I gave it some gas, I was reminded of my mechanic friend's attitude towards old bikes. He said, "sure you love that old bike, but it's like having an girlfriend. She's nice but there's something missing. Then you get a new girlfriend and she makes you forget all about the old one". I still get a kick out of that every time I start my bike (ironically with a kick). Ultimately, I ended up spending all my money of 3 more bikes. i would never part with any of them, unless the price is right and there's something bigger and shinier on the horizon. ;)
What am I doing and why am I doing it? Those are excellent questions.

Nothing/never would sell my K1 750.... my kids will sell it in the 'estate sale' after I'm gone .. 'cos none of 'em are bitten with the  SOHC bug like their Dad....and won't want it. I hope some bright eyed youngster with a glint in his eye ( hey, a glint in her eye ) looks at my bike and wants it like I wanted it a generation before.... I'm all about these old bikes passing-down to the 3rd, generation !!!

Right now, NOTHING! Ive learned how these bikes work fixing my '72 750. Ive taken things apart, cleaned it, replaced parts, cussed, fretted, its been great. Now I am unbelievably happy :), and have a nice runner!!!

I sold my first bike '77 550 when I moved cross country. It was the right price at the right time, and Ive regretted it ever since.

I couldn't put a dollar value on The  Hobart 550F. It's my first bike, and one that I'd wanted since I was a teenager(I started riding at 36). I've sold every other bike I've had, and if I could have only one bike, it's my Hobart.
That being said, when I die, or live long enough to be a blind incontinent cripple, I'd will the Hobart to my nephew or some other appropriate whippersnapper who is as head over heels for the Hobart as I am. It's just a 550 and it's unlikely anyone is going to offer me a swimming pool full of money for it.

It's all true, how do you think I got my 'name'? (I've done dumber things, but no pictures, no proof   ;))
I remember it was in 4th gear as there was a headwind (it's why rpm is so high)
I took it around a 'scrambles' course one time (now called motocross)
Going down 'the big hill' was pretty 'interesting'  ;D

I would not sell my 750K6 or 750KO unless a unexpected life event would warrant it such as death, sickness or financial problems. The bikes give me pleasure and joy and a outlet for the stressfull day to day living that is such a big part of our life's today.

Not really my taste to begin with but better double bag it, there were some pics where she had a monster cold sore.

Awesome photo! Very nice, really. I`d sell my K1 750 only to buy back the 70 CB750 that I`ve sold 2 years ago. Still regret it.

My dad always used to say "Everything is always for sale... you just might not like my price"

A friend has told me for years to always, always have 2 bikes.   One you can work on, or sell and one you can ride.  Always have one to ride.

I sold the bike in my avatar a while ago to a guy from Austin that saw it one day.  He asked what I'd sell it for - I threw out my standard answer of 6 grand.
It was all polished, painted and clean but not stock.  So I figured I'd never sell it at that price - didn't really want to.  Imagine my surprise when he called me a week later
and said he had the money.  He drove a trailer up from Austin (4 hrs) with 6 grand in cash and took it off my hands without even a test ride.   To me, I couldn't justify keeping it.  The money made got me another 750 (my current daily rider) and a parts bike, paid off my car note and even had some left over for more parts and a bigger LCD for my man cave.   I can build another - although they are getting extremely hard to find down here.

I still miss that bike.   I probably won't sell my current 750 - or at least it will take a bigger number.
Yep, I'm the kid that figured out how to put things back together...eventually.

* Honda's quality of construction probably equals Harley's but not their materials and finish (chrome and paint).

Take a look at my CL175 in the gallery, that is 39 year old Honda chrome and paint (70's technology) the person I bought it off a year ago had left it out under a tarpaulin in New Jersey for 2 years, no details on storage before that.

Spanner The 70 750 was my first and only street bike until a few years ago when I got the 81. The differences is the 81 dose have more power but I thank it is more top heavy. I did not ride it much before I sold it. The guy I sold it too has put about 20000 miles on it and it is still running good despite two wrecks he has had.It dose not look as good now as it did when I sold it. If you are thinking about one check the charging, the rotor can check good but at high RPM be open. The carbs are a pain to get off and on and they are CV so have to have the stock airbox. Anything else you need PM me.

Not too many folks have had a DOHC and an SOHC 750 at the same time........ I really didn't like the DOHC I had ('81 with 10 K miles )... it 'buzzed' really annoyingly @ 70 mph and tried to get in a tank slapper above 80 mph........ sold it for  more SOHC's !!

I've been asked many times what my 750's are worth and my answer is "they are not for sale so what does it matter?"  Some understand, many keep asking until they figure out I'm getting pissed at them for asking. They will be part of my estate. My Goldwing does not hold the same attachment for me. If a better touring bike comes along it may go. BMW 6?
