Please, call the next mark.  We gotta keep the ball rolling here :)

OK next mark is a steam locomotive, museum or heritage railway, rolling or static.

Good luck

Not an entry but I found film of our local static display when it was in use. At 4 minutes 10 seconds.

If you stop it just right you can read 3006 on the side. A guy on facebook remarked he would have loved to have seen it in use. I replied, I can grant one wish today.

Thankfully a lot of steam traction made it into preservation, you will find examples all over. (just got to look carefully)

Will this do ?

Kev

I say!

What memorial is that , Kev?

It's the originial 1914-18 memorial built in my town. Nearly every French commune has one, most built in the '20s. They have added on plates for the fallen of WW2 and the Algerian war. I'm usually there every Nov 11 at 11am.

Kev

Very cool.   11/11 @ 11am.  What is the significance of 11/11, Kev?

Hi Stev-o

The armistice that ended the fighting on the western front came into effect at 11am on November 11th 1918.  There is a ceremony in every town in France on the anniversary of the armistice with a military colour party and usually the town police.
Even though the terms of the armistice were known the day before, fighting continued, although on a very much reduced scale, right up to 11am. There were casualties recorded even in the final moment of the war. Sad.

There is only one day a year that I can get my CB next to this restored Baldwin, but too bad for our thread, it happened in June 2015, and I haven't managed it since.
Next chance in June 2019.

Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

The steam locomotive entries weren’t current pics. Depends on if you want to accept them, Kev. If not, I believe the next mark is your call.

Like that Frank. I know a beautiful location near Geneva where there are many of those in close proximity, on a quick dash of one minute you can cross back and forth from France to Switzerland many times. Back in the day someone with binoculars would definitely have had you under observation . . Near Lake Ohrid in the early 80s I tripped over a marker and fell from Greece into Albania, I was warned in a stern fashion to get my Irish ass out of the worker's paradise.

Can it be a tunnel that is no longer in use?

Bit of history on this one (because it involves the old mining industry that interests me): This is one of nine tunnels that were on the route between Colorado Springs and Cripple Creek/Victor. This railroad was built from 1897 to 1901 and was used to bring the gold down to Colorado Springs so that it could be processed. If you've ever been to Colorado Springs, you can still see the smokestack which stands on the westside of town where a community is being built around it. The smokestack was at the Golden Cycle Mill. Nearby is also the old rail house where the engines were kept. It is now a restaurant (very good too) and an awesome building to have a meal in.

How about your bike next to a water fountain that is located in a public place? Not one you get a drink from but something a little more artistic.
