Topic: Cool New Handle Bar Option That I Wanted to Share

Well for a while people went to the standard "clubman" bars for use on cafe bikes.
Most of these were fairly universal but never really fit the larger bikes very well.
So alot of builds started to use clip ons, this was nice as they fit better and allowed for a much cleaner top clamp.
But on some builds clip ons are to low, so the best option for most bike was to use a "superbike" bar, but then you could not run a shaved top clamp.
Well not enter the "superbike clip on"!!!
Best of both worlds.  A comfortable bar hight and the clean look.









These are just mocked up on my CR bike and I think they really look great.



The bolt just touches the tank right before the steering stop but thats nothing that a screw in the steering stop cant solve and no worse then other clip ons.

I was thinking about having a few other sets made up if people were interested in them.  I know that I can get 34mm and 35mm, might be able to get other sizes.

So what do you guys think?

i'd chose to run wires internally and have an exit hole on the lower tank-side of the bar where it meets the clip

This CR is a slow and steady build right now

It was a thought to have some made up and list them on Ebay.  I thought it would be nice to see if people here would be interested in them.  Fees and such are getting to be a bit much on Ebay and also its nice to help out members with a good product

It getting old seeing bikes that have a "look" but dont really work well.

The controls that are in the pictures are meant to run external

I will.
The only master that I had in the shop last night was a CBRF3
I think that a smaller or more compact master would clean up the look but that can be said for alot of bikes
Ill dig up a stock master and post how it looks

 Is that with plating..
 I would check this out, they were making them 40 years ago.. some bultacos ised them and maybe Benelli.. There may be all higher versions.
 A possible supplier might be Columbia Car & Cycle in Nakusp BC.. or search Laverda Nakusp... think they are out of the country.the next week or 2.
 ..Your bars look good, just saying check what may already be out there..

You are right, I'm not reinventing the wheel.
Have seen these bars on smaller 50s bikes, but never in a size for the sohc.

I have owned sets of the benelli and bultaco setups, both were for much smaller forks and the rise was over 2". There is an Australian company making a similar product that retails for $160 but those fit Ducati forks (38mm approx).

And that is $95 with the plating.

 I thought about doing it but was afraid it would look stupid but now that I see it I am impressed at the look

In my opinion cafe bikes should be about making the bike work better, not just a "look" thing.
Kind of like the debate between hot rods and rat rods.....

Unless you want to go full race and fab rearsets and such the "superbike" height is perfect balance of looks and performance.
Think gentleman's express over young back breaker....lol

Its not a reinvention of the wheel.
Few "euro" bikes from the 50s and 60s used a similar bar set up.

I have never seen a 70s honda with this type of bar.
Seems like it would be popular though.

It sorta looks goofy, but cool at the same time. I cant make up my mind if I like it or not. I do and dont. I think on the right style of bike, it'll work just fine.

Yeah, I think that's what Im seeing. The squarish tank and the curved bars just dont match. Just my opinion though. Everyone likes something different. I'd love to see that on a K tank.
