Stock paint tanks look great when incorporated into the color scheme. If you want to paint it, I would just sell it amd get another thats already been painted. 2cents you didnt ask for...

Let me poke my nose in once more. I have a tank I will send you and money to boot. You can paint it any color and would only increase its value.

ok, the plan was to take off the badges and fill it and then paint it. But since you offered, I would rather do that then in some perspectives destroy the original tank.

What a great idea.  If the old tank is still in as good of shape as it looks.

That tank looks awesome.. If you messed up your rotor you might want to snag another. Theres probably one for sale here or for sure on ebay. What is wrong with it?

Rotor situation is done, thanks for concern. However the aluminum retainer in the rear wheel (one with slots instead of holes) is giving me lots of trouble going in, I cleaned the threads on both ends with a pick and a shop towel. Tried to make an aluminum punch in order to no destroy the retainer. I'm still going to have to file it flat again, any advice?

anyone else in awe of this 19 year old?  geez, do I feel dated.

keep it up, man... that thing looks great!

p.s.  I'd run the tank just the way it is, it already goes nicely with the black

If the retainer threads are mangled you might just get a new one. I think i saw one on ebay. I am pretty sure they are still available.

That outer ring of holes on the rotor look awefully close to the edge. Maybe its just the picture but i would suggest that if you use it you check it frequently for cracks. Other than that its looking good.

Ditto, wear your helmet, that could send you flying over the bars or sliding down the pavement if it cracks and binds up... They look way too far out to the edge to me too.

It was easier once they were off the bike, it took a bit of steel whool, cleaners, and elbow grease though.
