this isn't a religion forum.

As for the bike in the original post, King is located in Indiana, and that bike is being sold in Nashville.  I would imagine its a bike someone bought from him and is now re-selling.  theres one on his website that looks just like it that that was sold to lexington, and another that doesnt say where it went.  My guess is it's one of those two.

wow......................i am just asking....but did no one notice that KINg had said the owner had made a few changes?  how does anyone but King know that the owner didnt remove the front brake?  geesh.  grow up people.  Each to his own......opinions are like azzholes.everyone has one and everyone thinks thiers is the only and right one.  the bike still looks cool.  King does good looking work.  would I own it or ride it?  no.  thats my 2 cents worth.

I have seen that bike in the parking lot at the university. Even took pictures of it to stick in my picture collection of " what people do to a 750". It's a pretty cool looking bike. I certainly would not want to own it, though.  According to some people he already destroyed the bike because it's not stock. I guess people get offended on many levels with this one. Lots of guys run without front brakes. This town is full of 20-30 somethings cruising around on fixed gear bikes without brakes, also! ....and they do get injured, run into cars and get hit by cars more often than other bikes. ??? I built a fixed gear in the mid 80s, but it was a track bike only and I didn't even think about taking it on the street. To each their own, but why get offended by an opinion especially when he is full of them, even preceding them with "The right way to do it". Opinions are like a$$holes! (as stated above!)

He can criticize other people's bikes, but if anyone criticizes his, he deletes all his posts and pouts in the corner. (BTW, if his posts have been quoted in another post, he can't delete it.)

Variations on "King's Custom" are all over the net... I would think it unfair to assume it is his build, or that it is in the same shape as when it left the shop if it is.

But, this thread and the other one are a very good example why proprietors of business should be cautious when engaging on these boards.

There is only one reason to be here if you are a business owner and identify yourself as such: To build your business.

That encompasses a lot of activity, but once you go down the road of "telling it like it is", even if you are right, you are likely not building your business.

And it is sad, really, because business people are human. They get hot under the collar or what have you, and then they are punished harshly by the community for statements that likely would have been passed over if they were just some regular guy.

I would point to TwoTired, who's curmudgeonly (and usually correct) responses sometimes draw fire, but then everyone chuckles and moves on.

It is to our great loss, as guys like King and HondaMan and others have tremendous knowledge and practical experiences about what you can and cannot do with a bike.

The problem with any motorcycle  business owner on any motorcycle site, are they promoting business or are they trying to help?
Awful lot of 'motorcyclists' know very little and may take things as 'Gospel Truth' even when completely wrong.
I like TT, and 754, tell it like it is because they are not trying to make money off anyone.
I do the same but have a more generic outlook as I don't specialise in CB750 (although I have done a lot of work on them)
I DO know more than most about CB550

So this kind of reminds me of Anchorman, I spent all morning reading these posts and wow!

Ron Burgundy: Boy that escalated quickly... I mean, that really got out of hand fast.
Champ Kind: It jumped up a notch.
Ron Burgundy: It did, didn't it?
Brick Tamland: Yeah, I stabbed a man in the heart.
Ron Burgundy: I saw that. Brick killed a guy. Did you throw a trident?
Brick Tamland: Yeah, there were horses, and a man on fire, and I killed a guy with a trident.
Ron Burgundy: Brick, I've been meaning to talk to you about that. You should find yourself a safehouse or a relative close by. Lay low for a while, because you're probably wanted for murder.

Oh man +++1

I will say this, I am very disappointed he left the site for two reasons.

1- He didnt stick up for his build and actually hid and now is gone from here
2- His advice

One thing I am noticing and a reoccurring theme is that when you make fun of others builds expect the same. Toughen up, pull up your skirt and get ready for the same medicine you may have given to others.
Scottly is correct that he may have said offensive statements to others but maybe he is insecure with himself. When I joined the site I made a post asking him if he knows he looks like Mike the mouth Matusow. he never responded so maybe he took it the wrong way.

Screw it, this is a great thread so here is some valuable words from John McClane------

Dwayne T. Robinson: I've got a hundred people down here, and they're covered with glass.
John McClane: Glass? Who gives a #$%* about glass? Who the #$%* is this?
Dwayne T. Robinson: This is Deputy Chief of Police, Dwayne T. Robinson, and I am in charge of this situation.
John McClane: Oh, you're in charge? Well, I got some bad news for you *Dwayne*, from up here it doesn't look like you're in charge of jack #$%*.
Dwayne T. Robinson: You listen to me, you little #$%*, I'm...
John McClane: #$%*? I'm not the one who just got butt-#$%*ed on national TV, *Dwayne*. Now, you listen to me, jerk-off, if you're not a part of the solution, you're a part of the problem. Quit being a part of the #$%*ing problem and put the other guy back on!

I have been around this place for a while and have noticed that there can be a lack of tolerance on both sides of the post.

The poster may be a bit too sensitive and the responders a bit too insensitive. I did comment on King's build, not my taste but it was fine. I did point out a liability issue and in out litigious society
that cannot be overlooked.

I have looked at other forums and quickly realized that being insensitive and wise ass is the norm. What makes this place special, is a lack of that wiseass attitude and more help. We should all keep that up.

On the other hand the poster should expect some criticism if what they are doing or proposing is questionable. In that case they should man up and accept it. None of us are always right.

Plus each person has his/her own take on what these bikes should be. KCC's bike is well built if you don't think it is safe don't buy it and leave it at that. There was another thread recently that I think was bs too. The guy built an awesome cafe with airplane break hubs that really looked cool and did a great job stopping the bike everyone wanted to know where he got them and what they were. Then the cafe project turned up on some Discovery channel show and some of the people that praised the build then dissed it because of the show. Each member has their own thought on what the bike should be we should not be shredding a guy who has been willing to help others just because his idea of what you think a cb750 should be is different than yours.

I'm a bit surprised how shocked everyone seems that a seller/dealer/whatever would do something that not EVERYONE finds safe/responsible.  I've been helping a guy here in town with his 74 CB360T, and at one point he mentioned paying $2500, after telling the "former honda mechanic" from which he bought it that he would pay that much if he could get it running.  It ran... for about 100 miles.  That's how long it took the mountains of rust in the gas take to ruin the fuel filters and subsequently $&%# up the carbs.  Really the bike may have been worth $500, but, well, that's how the world works.

What this guy did is far worse than KCC's front-brake-less bike, even if it really did go to a new rider that way.  The morality of it may be questionable, but it doesn't seem any worse than a normal dealer selling a VFR1200 to a new rider (which any sane dealer should do.  business is business).  Seems a lot easier for a newb to kill himself with 173 hp than with only a rear brake...

Now everybody go down a few beers and get on with life.
